Facts:
Dog poop is full of nasty bacteria, and potentially even parasites. One gram of dog poop can contain up to 23 million fecal coliform bacteria, and dog poop is also a common carrier of whipworms, hookworms, roundworms, parvo, coronavirus, giardia, salmonella, cryptosporidium, and campylobacter.
You don’t want to drink any of those things, which is a problem, because rain runoff can wash dog poop right into water sources.
Dogs, of course, aren’t the only animals that poop in the woods. But they are they only wood poopers that consume dog food. Where a wild animal is eating resources and nutrients from its ecosystem, then returning those same resources and nutrients to the same ecosystem, a dog is being fed extremely nutrient-rich foods from a bag, then depositing those alien nutrients into nature.
All the healthy nutrients in dog food result in poop that’s very rich in substances like nitrogen and phosphorous—the same ingredients you’ll find in fertilizer. The addition of that nutrient-rich poop to an ecosystem leads to an imbalance that, when it’s washed into water sources, can lead to algae blooms and promote the growth of invasive plant species on land.
.....Unless you're going up n over the pass why would you even bring your dog up the canyon if they cant get out of the car. This bill is stupid and just going to cause confusion for irresponsible pet owners. Dog owners arent perfect and some plain irresponsible, sometimes you dont see your dog poop when its running through the woods, sometimes you forget a bag, sometimes your dog jumps out of the car when you forget to close the door etc. IMO dogs dont need to be allowed everywhere.

^thanks! Was a pretty fun moment. I'm sure there will be plenty of days we never leave the tow rope (and some we dont leave the lodge). But so worth it!

On thursday, I went back up Nebo. It was nice to reuse our skinner up to the apron but after that the wind had blown away our skinner and booter from the week before.
I told my partners the day before to expect a big day as I wanted to ski 2 lines. When we first arrived at the summit and peered down the east side, there was no denying that we were going to take a lap down Hellhole Basin. The snow was surprisingly good.
I think its around 4000 vert from the top of Nebo to the creek below but knowing we had to hike back out, we only skied it for around 2700 feet.
Looking back up at the summit
Getting back over to the west side was mildly challenging as we had some wallowing as we tried to hold onto a ridgeline, but at least the ridge took us to back to the summit.
Once on the summit, we hustled back down the ridge towards the top of the NW couloir.
I had spied a couloir the week prior and we had decided to go check it out. I actually refused to ski the NW when my buddy mentioned that we might want to just drop into it since the sun was starting to get low.
Whoop, there it is!
didn't take too many photos on the descent since we were racing the sun.
nice little corner pocket chute near the bottom
Here are some beta photos from the bottom. I don't believe the line has a name but I think the Moses Fuckin' Christ Couloir, or MFC for short, has a nice ring to it. And it has some old testament biblical reverance so that's nice. I also think its a superior ski descent than the famed NW couloir next door and would recommend you check it out the next time you're in the neighborhood.

I'm visiting from AZ this next weekend. If I drive up any of the canyons, or DV, will I be turned away? My buddies get in later in the day, so I won't be able to do a 3+ carpool.

Do you have a vehicle with AWD/4WD and a M+S or Snowflake stamped on the sidewalls? If not, do you have chains for you 2wd car? Will you be at the mouth of the canyon before 10:30am?
Those are a couple surefire ways to get up, assuming the road is open.
I can't comment on the DV Parking situation.

I’ve never heard of anyone being turned away from the Canyons. Sometimes Deer Valley sells out on the weekends

Good times and glad to be back on snow today
Sent from my iPhone using TGR ForumsI need to go to Utah.
Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?
So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....
Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

Plenty of crust around still but was nice to ski some fresh snow at the bird today. Things were skiing pretty decently towards the end of the day all things considered.

for real... e facing was pretty bad with a couple inches on top of a super weird/variable/grabby crust. south facing on the exit was truly horrendous lol
then the rest of the wasatch joined tgapp and I, though for some happy reason they all wanted to hit toledo chute. 3, possibly 4 separate parties gang banging it. to each his own!
3 laps was probably 2 more than conditions merited but desperate times etc

Sweet pics and TRs
I'll be in town Sat-Sun most likely at Alta/Bird if anyone is interested in meeting up for a couple laps. Probably will save any touring for the meetup the following weekend.

discount tickets?
Visiting Alta in two weeks. Will ski four days - all in Alta or three in Alta, one at Snowbird. Liftopia and Alta's website seems to be the best lift ticket prices I can find ($446 for four Alta days)... Are the better prices anywhere else?
Awesome stoke photos you all.
