Definitely more of an Alta line, same as keyhole. From the tram you have to bypass a lot of good skiing to get there. Part of the hype, is that it’s been forbidden fruit for so long. Back when the bird used to do the whole Peruvian gulch backcountry only in the spring you could do baldy chutes to zone five to the tram. That was absolute money on spring pow days for 2 laps before the sun got to it. Coma chute proper isn’t anything great. But black jack chute and the little knuckle roll to spines into the run out is a terrain feature we don’t have elsewhere in lcc (that little band holds snow on a really steep roll over pitch that our low density snow doesn’t usually stick, to but was basically sun crust unskiable snow on this latest opening). White cliffs chute, directly skiers right of the current rope line far skiers right is the real gem (starts with a mandatory 10 foot air) but is currently closed (as it was in 2011-12, but was legit in the days of Peruvian gulch backcountry only). I’ll never complain about new steep terrain openings.

The Tree Huggers have thwarted the main idea to stop congestion>a F'kn Train
Any mention gets pushed off the plate long before it can be properly proposed.
Come into the 20th century UTAH!! we need big parkin lots at both canyons bottoms.. ski trains … and proper freeway ramps all along I15.
No reason for exiting cars to have a traffic light crossing every main junction; I15 is worse than lcc and bcc combined. And ,these damn tech companies built the corridor up before this modernization that is 40 years lateski paintingshttp://michael-cuozzo.fineartamerica.com" horror has a face; you must make a friend of horror...horror and moral terror.. are your friends...if not, they are enemies to be feared...the horror"....col Kurtz

Crawling through the Canyon but the stoke is alive! Going to be mobbing around the bird today with Bob MC SFB and maybe some other TGR aficionados. Blue jacket with avy vest over it. Change for 5c is appreciated

probably the worst skinner I've set in my life getting back to mineral
mongo no actually skied way better than it looked...
hope you all found some nice turns!Last edited by mall walker; 02-26-2020 at 10:58 AM.

Hey Wasatch folks,
I'll be in SLC working remotely for the next 8 days and hope to get some skiing in. Brought the touring setup and also have the much beloved IKON pass to hit the resorts. What aspects/areas are skiing well after all that sun / will still be skiing well after a couple more sunny days? (assuming the small refresher Sunday night doesn't change things too much) Based on AKBruin's pictures and mall walker's reports, it seems like some of the North-facing stuff is still holding up? Or should I start looking for corn at this point? Most of my BC experience has been in CA...
Would appreciate any advice, or even better, someone who can show me some of the goods. As long as there are no mandatory raps, ice climbing, or other serious mountaineering shebang, and we're not doing 10k vert days a la mall walker, I should be able to keep up. Beer and stoke will be on me.Last edited by gerritkwood; 02-23-2020 at 11:44 PM.

mall walker and others can chime in with perhaps better beta, but unless last night's storm changed things significantly (I doubt it did; less than .3 SWE at the Snowbird Snotel and Alta reporting 3", sounds pretty light), I think we might be in for some corn cycles.
if not corn, then the only thing that will still be in is going to be high north. mid elevation north facing stuff was getting wet as of a few days ago.

Solid stoke pics everyone!
Doggie stoke...Dogs needed a tour...found some great settled pow in upper Porter yesterday with surprisingly no tracks.
Dogs are stoked to be out!
Charlie not convinced this is the way
Kayla getting some fresh tracks
Happy dogs, little dot in the back is Charlie
Snow was in better shape then expected, nice settled pow, not sure it will survive this coldfront and winds

Not necessarily what you are looking for...but I did a few laps at Alta this morning in between work calls. Dust on crust except for a few zones getting windloaded that actually skiied fairly well. Viz was poor in the morning, improved throughout day but the sun still hadn't poked thru when I headed down around 2.

^sun poked out a bit at the Bird between 3 and 4 but it stayed mostly cold and windy. Anything available for transport was moving around pretty good up high.

great pics on this page/excellent hunting teams!!!
>>>the government running this shit show we call LCC & BCC must think we are idiots. They could pop up a 6 story parking garage in less than 6 months, if they wanted to.. and man the road with a fleet of busses.
