Just getting home and seeing a 50 yr event in the hood.
Gotta disagree w/the drift.
My forecast is the LCC open @ 0800. Possibly earlier?
Get in line...
lts surfy and fast.

UDOT just tweeted estimated noon opening tomorrow. TFW, thanks for your posts. Pretty wild!
At a loss on tomorrows plan here [emoji23]. Might go to canyons because we've got comps. But really want the alta...(but dont want to put visiting friend through the drama of a noon road open)

^^ Same, very torn on where to go.
I ski 135 degree chutes switch to the road.
Sorry for my optimism last night.
Thought they'd work through the night,
but work on the highway ceased at 8 pm.
Noon might be a conservative estimate...
Have a fun day elsewhere, all.

From the Bird:
We are working toward having Gadzoom, Gad 2, Mid-Gad, Wilbere and Chickadee today at some point but delayed. Little Cloud is iced over at the top but we’ll be working on it.
Unfortunately we won’t have the Tram today as several days of extremely strong winds and snow have left several inches of ice on the structure, track rope, haul rope and rescue rope. We had a crew on the structure Friday afternoon but made little headway due to wind and lack of visibility.
We are using the Peruvian lift and snowcats to shuttle the Patrol and mechanics to Hidden Peak early this morning. Thanks for your patience as Patrol runs their routes after what has been an eventful few days in Little Cottonwood Canyon.

From UAC:
Dave Richards from the Alta Avalanche Office just recorded the longest period of sustained westerly winds in their history. Wind, combined with heavy snowfall created a massive natural and explosive triggered avalanche cycle in Little Cottonwood Canyon. Many large avalanches crossed the closed highway leaving behind huge debris piles with large trees. Tanners, Whitepine Chutes, Cottonwood Draw, Superior, and Toledo bowl we among the largest of the reported avalanches that crossed the closed highway. Alta also reported an explosive triggered avalanche that broke into old snow on a north facing slope at 10,700' in elevation. The crown was 6' deep.

I need to go to Utah.
Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?
So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....
Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

60 and sunny. It’s gonna be a great day in Moab.
I'm envious of you all. There's nowhere I would rather be during a massive storm cycle than locked down in upper LCC. Doesn't get much better than that.
So what ever happened to Joe Calamari and his crew Larry Scungille and Rocco Broccoli?
I'm happy for those of you country clubbing up there right now, but I hope mr. squid ain't out there

I guess they kinda deserve it. I mean they literally been on lock down in a place that doesnt have a ton of amenities to begin with. I bet times were boring. Imagine just sitting in your hotel room for 2 days.

Ha I'm pretty sure I saw Calamari coming down mambo with his teletubbie go pro.
TFW is spot on with fast and surfy.. skis like they groomed everything and then slathered on 4" of cream cheese.
Coming up the road things looked like a war scene.
