The Flagstaff and all Emmas skinners are definitely grade IV, maybe V depending on the day. ED or even ED+ ascent. Steel crampons and 2 technical tools required.

Verting around on East Kessler today with the pow surf...Get some strange looks sometimes, think people assume I'm a lost sledder from the flats haha

Twas balls out there, first lap verting is work but after that its really efficient...A bit easier to get into nooks, crannies, and explore too.

thankfully clouds kept the sun/temps in check...sun poked out for a minute, snow off the main road was getting damp on the exit out around 2pm. Got a couple sizable sluffs to run enough to knock you over but manageable. Any snow exposed to the sun is going to be insta mank.

Today was definitely a contender for some of the best turns this season! Get Some while it lasts!

It did get really cold just as the clouds cleared. Saw a couple guys up West Porter setting up a tent who might be in for a pretty chilly evening.

No action shots. We were racing the sun for lap 2. We lost. The luge in the dark is fun.

I kind of forgot how long the approach is up there. I was thinking about you running up there in the dark before work. Definitely not easy access. I found that long hallway in main, it feels like it just keeps going and going.

That road slog keeps the riff raff at bay! Well, kept at least... I have a number of buddies who will not ski Gobbs because it's just too far. One of them always counters with Cold Fusion when I mention a Porter tour.

Shit yeah! Nice to see some late season low elevation stoke while stuck at the office for a random and useless meeting which threw a wrench in my plans for the day. FOMO++++

^ I'm sure it doesn't make you feel any better, but the snow is probably crap now after the couple hours of sunlight we've had... but it was pretty much perfect this morning. 6"+ of cold soft right side up pow at maybe ~6800', quite a bit more higher up. the "pillow line" exit sections down thomas were as good as I've ever skied them. if this was the end for the Wasatch this season she went out in style.

I'm gonna dial it back and roll solo from here on, for however long we can legally still walk around in the dark with skis on anyway (and maybe a little longer ), or until shit gets "normal" again. holler if you see me out there, Black Crows Solis skis, yellow Tecnica ZGTPs, grey on grey jacket/pants, white helmet.

We should all thank Ullr for dumping 2+ feet of remarkably well behaved snow on top of a welded snowpack. If this had happened a couple months ago we'd be doing body recovery all the way into the spring, People are showing a level of cluelessness that boggles the mind. I had an outlandish conversation yesterday in Cardiff with 2 kids who were going for the Mower. They asked me how to get there and it became clear that they knew nothing about Kessler other than the name of the run. I told them I hadn't seen any signs of instability on sheltered NW but the upper Mower might be a different story given the winds. They countered anything I said with "well the UAC said blah blah fucking blah moderate danger rah rah wind slabs but those are easy to predict uuurrrr duuuuurrrr sun's not out so no worries about wet slides".

The church of the avi rose is not going to save people any more than the church of jeebus will help them avoid the covfefe.
