Apparently the timbersled coming down the skintrack on 10420 back to guardsmans Friday thinks quarantine means free for all, same with the dog on the way up

Lotsa people up the little road parking full at white pine not an empty spot in town of alta holy shit alta is tracked TF out. Headed out Catherine's with thoughts of east castle then the sun lit it for a minute plenny o tracks there. Sunset was plenty of clean white and mucho soft on N face ohhh yeah $$$. Skinning up shoulder for lap 2 around 330 Im hereing motos wtf 3 timbersleds followed by a snowmobile come over the roll from by the seagull and sidehill the entirety of catherines around the corner of rocky point and park on the saddle then went off toward highmark hill. Never seen motards on that side before but Im sure its legal no worries. Headed back down group of tourers top o sunnyside with a pooch that most likely not avy or canyon dog although didnt stop to ask. Got down to the car some jerkhole drives his brand new tesla up the summer road.

I dont know what to say other than it sure was nice putting my head down in the skinner and forgetting about errything for a while and earning some turns. Click image for larger version.

upon reflection yeah, it would be surprising if the FS felt that this one local group (instead of all the other outlets they have for communication with the public, which includes their own robust social media presence) was how they decided to reach out to the public at large...

FS posted on their facebook that they aren't closing the canyons, just that they want us to minimize visitor impact.

Been more like the ant than the grasshopper this last week.
Funny how those pantries stocked with a year's worth of food in LDS households don't seem silly now.
Too bad the people of the world could not coordinate a 2 week quarantine and be done with this.
We as Americans will be the worst at staying put; losing our liberties.
Sounds like a vaccine or better yet cure is not happening soon.
This event is going to go on for a while,

Hope we can keep walking and sliding around for a while more.

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Ain't that the truth! I think it was the busiest day I've ever experienced in the Wasatch back! For details (possibly dramatized) read below, if you want the TLDR: people everywhere, lots of kooky shit going on. Basically, we're fucked. Nobody's willing to be cooped up, myself included. People have zero imagination (myself included) and mob the 5 obvious trailheads in the range. Hard to resist, it was probably the most beautiful day of the season. With 2 feet of snow coming there will be blood though.

    [crowdingreport]

Buddy and I were skinning by 5:30 on Sat, saw lights already a ways up Tanners. We caught a party that had started earlier and got lost on the Red Pine skinner. They didn't believe me when I told them they were headed into Maybird. We then ran into a couple of kids at the foot of the Hogum divide, one on a splitboard and the other on snowshoes (not Verts, real slowshoes). It was their first time touring from WhitePine, they were heading for, you guessed it, the Needle... They were super psyched and I didn't have the heart to yell at the one postholing the skinner (which my buddy had set the day before).

We put in the Needle skinner and started looking around when we hit Thunder ridge: 2 people is NW Pfeiff, 3 people approaching the Sliver, 3 people going to the head of Hogum, and 5 people starting the Needle skinner with more about to drop from the top of the HogDivide. There were people booting up the E face of Lone Peak (some trying to traverse too high above the wrong cliff) and 2 criss-crossing skinners in the apron.

When we popped back on the ridge after a Coalpit run there were 5 people above us and 8 below. At the top we saw 2 groups of 4 or 5 clustered together, no doubt taking selfies and posting them on IG, #socialdistancing #lookatuswerebetterthanyou. Some people were coming up the backside from Lone Peak. We topped out N Thunder and spotted a party that must have dropped into Thunder Bowl, they were either looking for the Sliver (and failed, almost pioneering a new line off the ridge) or heading to the Needle from the back. Someone had come from the Needle into Dresden, skied a short line between the cliff bands, popped back into the Neeldle, then cut back into the Dresden aprons. Cool sneaky line.

Ran into the 2 kids again who did make it to the top of the Needle (slowshoer set his own booter most of the way before giving up on the ridge and massacring the skinner again) and sent it. Props to them, it's a long walk and burly objective for your first visit there. Not sure it was well thought out but what do I know... I managed to talk them off skiing the cliffy version of the apron but they proceeded to get lost on the Hogum exit and ended up on the left side of the creek. Took a lot of shouting to convince them to traverse back. We eventually saw them hiking along the road so they avoided a brushy death.

Lots and lots of people on the Quarry trail and they all seemed terrified of us (probably the sound of edges on granite). The Y parking lot was full with dozens of cars on the shoulder and across the road in Lisa. Random cars parked along the 7 sisters, people picnicking on the plow pullout. Roadside parking started 1/4 miles before White Pine, the lot itself was overflowing and 1 lane in and out due to cabrons parking on both sides but 2' from the snowbanks (gotta leave room to haul huge asses out of large SUVs). Constant flow of people coming in and out of the restroom and hiking/skinning up or down the trail. Two dogs spotted but the people got shouted down pretty quick and left with their tails between their legs. Traffic on the way down was reminiscent of January sunny pow days. Only real difference was that going to the bar and spraying for hours while drinking beers was not an option. #sad.

Having skied out the gulch multiple times already this season going back up and facing the Hogum exit was an appealing option. And I've been waiting to send this one in good conditions for as long as I can remember. Also, #downskis.

No-go from the tippy top of the peak, the sharks were too pointy to risk it.
Angry sluffs were encountered on the headwall. When the angle eased up things calmed down enough for photos. Always do the point:

This guy has been riding around illegally behind my neighborhood to get his moto up to 10420. I haven’t seen it parked at any residence yet though. Seems that the moto off road rules are being ignored on the reg this season.

Not sure of next step but it’s annoying to have the brappers tracking up areas where they are not technically allowed to ride, creating noise pollution, etc.

Thanks guys, it was one hell of a day up there and despite the hordes everyone seemed to be having fun and nobody got crushed. I count that as a major win.

Holy. Fuck. Where to even begin?
Reference to the rose - check
    Navy expert - check
Solid tongue in cheek tone - check

Glad this dude lived, getting flushed out of the Y by a slow-moving couloir-wide slide would suck major balls...

EDIT: 7 people skinning Oingo at once? Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.
