Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?
So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

I rode lifts at Alta for a few hours this morning. A lot of dust on crust with a few pockets of good. More of a valley storm sadly, but better than the conference call that got cancelled.

tgapp and I were certainly not the only ones to figure out that neffs would be deep this morning, but we were the first
thigh to hip deep trenching, 2-3' new snow in that zone easy
in upper thomas it became too flat to endure breaking anymore. pushing snow uphill with my hips
snorkel warning, cold smoke inhalation may cause coughing. that zone needs to settle a day or two before the trailbreaking juice is worth the squeeze imo

Speaking of picking and choosing at the Bird...
"Driving down from Alta yesterday, I passed Snowbird and the snow got remarkably heavier farther down the canyon. I think yesterday was the day to lap Baby Thunder at Snowbird! It's also why Snowbird is reporting 17" storm total, but its neighbor, Alta is only reporting 8". However, I think it's safe to assume those high totals at Snowbird are likely on the lower mountain, farther down canyon."

I'd like to thank both of you for your hard work. That skinner was great and we appreciated that everyone but one group decided to ski the shot that the skinner came up..... Leaving plenty of untracked, blower pow for us to ski.
my buddy stefan enjoying the skinner!
Also, its nuts that the neffs th parking lot was full by 6am. Glad we carpooled as we got the "last spot." And it wasn't just skiers, we left the trailhead right after some dawn patrol sledders. Now that's hardcore

8 degrees at noon to head up for a quick lunch run on Emmas. Essentially dust on crust with a few ok turns mixed in. Gonna try lower tomorrow.

Good timing hitting Stairs. We've been fortunate with the lack of significant winds lately.
Couldn't rally anyone with a significant window of time needed for Millcreek or Neffs today. Took my time and chose the Porter forks less traveled. Thought I may have lucked out with a trail broken towards Raymond that dead ended. Breaking wasn't too bad with a foot+ in the glade on average. No one around that zone for the most part. Meanwhile W. Porter and Gobbs were seeing more traffic.
North face is getting filled in nicely.

I was in my living room around 7-730 (guessing at the time) when I looked up to see a headlamp in Neff’s area, with this exact kinda morning background light, and then it disappeared after 2 seconds. I live close to I80 so I’m not exactly close. I’ve never seen a headlamp up there in the morning but now I know why of all mornings I saw one. Wondering if it was you guys now.

I hope it was the solo dawn patrol sledder you saw, because that made my day yesterday.

Still two feet of absolutely blower, right-side-up cold smoke in mid elevation Millcreek as of this morning. Get after it before this next storm dumps a bunch of cement on top of all of this fluff here.
