As someone who's visiting Seattle during the holidays, which resort would be ideal to get a cabin near based on this season's conditions? Flying from Socal.

As of today, only Crystal Mountain is open. So there's that.

Crystal would be best, but least likely to have availability. Stevens second best, staying in leavenworth would be cool. Don't bother staying at snoqualmie pass, just stay in Seattle and enjoy the city, Snoqualmie is only 50 minutes away and is the shittiest of the Seattle areas.

Just out of curiosity I checked the Crystal report and they are saying they have a "27" snow base", whereas NWAC telemetry says they have 14". I'm used to ski area deception, but this is a new low. Some enterprising lawyer should try out a class action on them for false advertising, Consumer protection act violations pay treble damages!

Rookie. Its all about where the measurements are taken. Then there is some complicated imperial to metric to gaelic and back to imperial calculations going on.

One measure is top of hill in GV, the other is at the base. Both are correct for their location.

That's depth at base telemetry site.

    Check the other one.

Skin laps at the golf course today. Coverage better than telemetry would suggest. We saw est. 12" new wet, top 5" over thin soft rain layer, 7" below that. We saw grooming equipment in action over at Lil' Thunda.

Gonna miss White Pass opener tomorrow cuz I once again am taking one for the birdies, i.e., I got roped in to do the Audubon Xmas bird count. We'll hit it Sunday.

Summit instructors have training this weekend at West. They'll be running Little Thunder for them until 1:30pm both days. Word is now that the lift access is only for those in the training. No "open skiing" even for the instructors. I would assume those earning their turns should be fine.

Was thinking of going touring near stevens or crystal with this recent storm. Crystal seems to have gotten a little more snow so probably going to roll the dice there. Has anyone been out and found the coverage to be good enough?

What about Baker? You're right about no availability around Crystal.

Turned out to be not so bad, eh? A little wind affected but first tracks on Lemolo, Upper and Lower Tyee go down as a powder day in my book. Glad you found the goods.

Baker has pretty shit weather to plan around. It's always bluebird with a foot of new at crystal, practically like the front range. Stevens has awesome aprea in Leavenworth, great cabins over the too. Alpental is midocre

Also could be one of those deals where the snow improves as it gets colder this weekend.
