Thread: Snow in the PNW 2019-20

Read it already and am familiar with most of the variables, just find it funny watching the NWS forecast discussions rapidly being revised with 50% of the storms being total crap shoots. It seems like there would be model by now that could more accurately predict the easterly flow and dynamic cooling that happens there.

When Jim Steenburgh starts writing about the Pacific NW weather I'll start reading it. Although I do think Mass is a obnoxious asshole.

All the way to the other side, but it isn't radar.
As someone who relies on weather observations and forecasts every day at work, I can tell you that they're remarkably accurate in the 12-24 hour timeframe. The problem is that the public wants to know what next weekend will look like on Tuesday. Since that isn't possible with a high degree of accuracy, they hedge their bets with "___% probability", and an overly pessimistic outlook because people seldom complain when the weather is better than forecast. Since good for most people is bad for skiers, we're disappointed.

Hey, go fuck yourself. Eat shit and die. I wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire.
My comment had nothing to do with whether or not Cliff is worth reading, but the fact remains that while he is knowledgeable about PNW weather, his knowledge of mountain weather pales in comparison to Steenburgh's.

What mountains? I'd bet good money that Professor Cliff Mass [Media] is more knowledgeable than Professor Steenburgh about the Puget Sound Convergence Zone and its effect on Washington Cascade Mountain weather. OTOH, I'd prolly give Steenburgh the edge on that Rocky Mountain afternoon summer thunderstorm thing.
And, yeah, Cliff Mass Media is an asshole.
