Nice work SirVic. How old is she?

My youngest (almost 5) finally got over the fear of skiing without holding on to me last Sunday. With the schools closed until late April I'm hoping that we get a few more days in to really drive home the fundamentals. We'll probably be at Hyak tomorrow unless the wind scares us away.

Self-isolation in full effect last evening. Snow went to shit real fast. Should be out this afternoon to put some distance between myself and others, first on the padded seats then perhaps beneath the lights of the Silver Fir

Can confirm. I just got back from Snow Lake and it's about 4", but pretty dry snow, so dust on crust right now. Should be a great day tomorrow.

    Snow in the PNW 2019-20

Lots of sluff action on the first third of the high-t on the final lap of the day. Low angle skied pretty damn good.

9” at Mission by 1530. Cold. Extremely unstable new snow. Propagation of cracks spontaneously with no disturbance observed from the lift. Fast running slough. Great skiing.

Hit K4 last lap and it was pretty spicy. I was standing there alone thinking about the likely windslab I was about to trigger. Did a cut, nothing, did another, nothing. Dropped in, popped the whole knoll but I was prepared for that and rode it out nicely

    !!!!!!!

All lifts except the Mt. Rainier Gondola will be operating, weather permitting. Outside of lift operations, the following adjustments have been made to services and operations for the weekend:

-All lodges and indoor restaurants and seating will be closed. Access to restrooms will be available in the day lodge, Campbell BasinLodgeand below the Summit House.
-Fireside Cantina will be open for food service in addition to outdoor BBQ and grab-and-go food options. Due to limited services we strongly encourage guests to bring their food and find a spot on the mountain or back at their vehicles to eat. Outdoor seating will be limited.
-The rental shop will be closed. Demo equipment will be available at the outdoor Brand X Demo location only.
-The indoor Kids Club facility will be closed however we will continue to offer lessons on snow.
-Beginner lesson packages will not be available.
-Capacity will be limited on all shuttles to allow for proper social distancing so please be patient.
-Night Skiing has been canceled and is done for the season.

While we had considered limiting vehicle access to Crystal Mountain in order to help keep overall attendance managed, we have determined not to do so. We have instead focused on limiting access to areas prone to crowding so that more of our skiers and riders can enjoy the mountain.
Is this sustainable? No food, drink or rental income and most visitors have passes.

    Speaking of which..

After careful consideration of potential guest volume this weekend, we have decided to make further changes to lodge operations in accordance with CDC guidelines to better protect guests and staff. In order to substantially reduce guest density in our facilities we will be limiting lodge access to restroom and short (5-7 minute) warming use only. This operational adjustment will allow our teams to better facilitate greater guest spacing inside our buildings during this time.

Our food services will be very limited; only outside venues will be open this weekend. We plan to operate Coyote's at Summit Central and Big Air BBQ at Summit West. At this time, we do not plan to have any food or beverage services available at Summit East, Silver Fir, or Alpental.

Additionally, equipment rentals will be limited to Summit West, Silver Fir, and Alpental only. Silver Fir and Alpental will have limited occupancy, so the best place to rent this weekend will be Summit West. Please be patient, wait times may be longer than normal as we will be metering access to our Rental Shops.

Thank you for your understanding and please consider these limitations and restrictions before you come skiing or snowboarding at The Summit. You may want to bring a lunch to eat in the plaza or in your car. If you're bringing the whole family up, plan accordingly for an outdoor experience. Winter has returned in the Pacific Northwest, which means there will be good turns out on the mountain. That also means it is important to dress accordingly and layer up! Have fun, stay safe, and enjoy the great outdoors!

Went up to Stevens today and had fun. At this point I figure any day could be the last day of the season (lift-served, anyway). It was certainly quieter than normal for a Friday, but not totally dead.

It was deeper than that, waist deep in spots and I’m 6’5”. I’d post some “stoke” but the pics would suck because it was dumping until 1400. Sorry. 🤓

    Sounds great.

And it's going to be Shanks' pony turns only very soon.

    What a weird winter.
