Paradise to Muir delivered a delectable shitshow of terrible snow and folks #optingoutside. Managed to not get taken out by the falling tourons tumbling down from Pan Point. Great weather and views though.

Not great. We found some nice turns in wind-loaded spots but had to negotiate the scour to get there.

Here's to hoping a glaze of freezing ran just above ground level will, somehow, be good for the base

I normally prefer to wax my base with hoar frost. Works great, especially for spring skiing

How was the road to the trailhead? I heard that it turned a few people around from ice about 4 miles from the TH.

Just think how epic the next 4-5 months will be if we end up with an average snow/water year!

Disregard my earlier post about freezing rain... the temp spiked 10F overnight and it's all a wash now.

Hoping beyond hope for a good dump later next week, but it's too early to tell. The 10-day forecast looks a lot of wet at base level, with some significant white at the top, and a drying trend into next week. At this point, I'd think a limited opening date of the 14th for Stevens & Baker is questionable but I'd love to be wrong about that.

I have a 10am dentist appt on the 17th, so it's likely it will nuke right around then to really mess that up. My gut says West on the 20th & Acres on the 21st with Alpental sometime before New Year's Eve and Hyak in January before another frustrating dry-out but then a potentially all-time February & March. Just a hunch...

I wish this season were more like 16/17. I'm no local now, but just looking at snowpack levels and having been here for that season *wink*, it was probably one of the better ones in the past 10 years.

    New at Mt Dweebus!

    https://www.crystalmountainresort.co...hats-new-19-20

    Good:

12 more gondi cabins maxes out capacity, ticket kiosks in lots B and C, extra shuttle truck.

    Bad:

Designated snowshoe trails in Bullion basin. Uh, fuck.

The trail corridor is narrow and already sees doe-eyed uphillers diving out of the way of skiers descending.

Now it'll be choked with 3-abreast retard snowshoers wandering off the designated routes to chew up every skintrack they see, inadvertently getting into avalanche terrain and generally crowding the place.

Improvements by survey: sacrifice some of your limited recreation allotment to fill out this survey because if you don't, jerry the snowshoer will!
