Paradise never opened yesterday, due to "staffing". Looks open now.

They're shutting down the visitors center, etc.

Yes, I knew facilities were closed. That would suck if I drove all the way there and the road was gated.

National Parks are like the only thing open. I’m going to one this weekend, I’m sure many other people are.

    Just hope not too crowded.

Please keep the gate to Paradise open, because without that, we're gonna have to swing the gate across EB 90 @ North Bend closed to non-essential travel.

This is gonna be "wrong thread, JONG!" and all but, according to a pretty good data science visualization freely available on the Internet w/o ads of COVID-19 trends, WA state is kicking ass w/ their social distancing, with an estimated 90 days until total population infection and holding a steady (and even slightly declining) rate of new case growth. This is a good sign, I hope folks are able to stay the course through the weekend and be an example for the rest of the nation.

As Gov. Inslee said today, we're nowhere near out of the forest yet and there is considerable room for improvement but our numbers are looking better and we know we're ramping-up testing and facilities.

LA county, OTOH, has pretty much thrown-in the towel and isn't even testing symptomatic folks any more unless they might serve as a useful data point (e.g. first responder, retirement community caregiver, etc.). So yeah, glad to have him sitting in Olympia and not out on the campaign trail right now. Let's keep our wits, keep our cool, keep our distance, minimize our interactions with everybody, wash our hands and keep hope alive that further restrictions won't be too draconian.

Social distancing is the new normal. New safety protocols. Meet at the trail head in separate cars as much you can. Keep your distance on the snow. Don't share anything that you put in your mouth.

    Snow in the PNW 2019-20

Took a drive up Hwy 2 with the wife this afternoon just to get outside. 45-degrees and would have been one heck of a spring groomer-zoomer day, if lifts had been spinning. Saw 2 guys attempt to skin up Big Chief before their hopes were dashed by the vigilant Ops guy who reminded them that there is no uphill traffic while there is a blinky light in the base area. How is the road in?

I think we were the first up Stu this season. No signs of others anywhere along the way. The road is snow all the way from the snopark (i.e., 10 miles to Ingalls/Esmeralda trailhead. There were many people camped at 29 Pines but we were the only sled skiers. It's in prime shape for the next weather window.
