There's still a little bit of adventure left in the zone. Not enough that I'd schlep my sticks up, but someone else might...

Dang. I kept hoping there would be a way to get it going again. Not having Hortsman TBar really throws off the flow of the alpine at Blackcomb.

Some fat icicles on the upper mountain. Folks are still skiing the Fuhrer. Pretty damn good shape for mid-July!

The road up there is a joy with the fresh repave... go take a sporty cruise, I dare ya. Ski to the car at crossing #4 and avoid the fat tourons pummeling the poor snowfield.

Big Kitty was cruising all over the place. Found both refrozen tracks and fresh ones.

Steep romantic tracks from a random. Kamtron, did you leave these?

Snack spot: acceptable. Glad I brought two beers because one had popped, explaining the faint "beer on the breeze" and moist bumcrac LOL. Guess it's finally time to wash my gear.

Steep July corn with ten steps on dirt? Yah sign me up

and a mega-alturd one for fun

Donde esta? I'm new to the PNW right when COVID hit and haven't gotten my snow fix. This is on Mt. Rainier somewhere? I need to get a few easy fun turns in!

    lol

thejongiest, drive up to Paradise and check it out. Look closely at a map and don't get into the crevasses. Lots of room up there but 95% of folks travel the Muir snowfield.

Sweeet I’ll take a drive down there tomorrow and scope it out. I’ve actually never been near Rainier. Lots of exploring to do

I too am brand new to the PNW and am super stoked by these photos. Are there boot packed paths to walk up some of these snowfields? I don't have any touring gear.

Actually, what sort of touring ski would you guys recommend for the area? I usually ski a 189 Cham 107 for reference. Help a new Seattle jong out!

I'm laughing at myself for even expecting a real response to that.
