Sad to say we’re in the “bad for the base” category now.

I'm flying in to Seattle tonight. Wondering if I should skip my work responsibilities tomorrow to ski Stevens? My wunderground app is showing snow but folks here are painting a much wetter picture. What should I expect?
Am I better off just heading to Whistler for the weekend?

Apparently highway 410 is closed due to a mudslide.

SL didn't go as high as forecasted last night so that's good. Last week at one point when I looked I think it was 49 at Snoqualmie Pass. Maybe a bit less scouring of creek beds with this system and at least heavy snow up top. Glass half full you know.....well, everything is all the way full right now..
Good for the glaciers??

It's a subject on my mind as I've been mapping a glacier traverse in GPWA for this summer. Lyman Lake (5980') has 130" and Easy Pass (5270') has 136", which are average or a bit above average for this time of year. OTOH, Rainy Pass has only 99" and Harts Pass 114". As last year, so far WA Pass not getting as much love as central Cascades, GP area and western NCNP. Too early to say what it'll all mean for May/June touring and summer mountaineering, of course. Temps and sun in April, May and June are historically as important as snowfall in March and April.

That's not an east wind that's blowing, and no, I can't explain why it's cold enough to be snowing. But I can tell you that my drive into the lowlands for a round of meetings today was an absolute shitshow. Downtown Issaquah is flooding, glad the office is in Eastgate and I could cruise past on the highway.

Nothing stops Beardmech, he’ll probably hitch a ride on a WSDOT incident response vehicle.
