had to walk a ways than could ski some trees than walk across lava flow. around 4000 vert could be skied saturday. a friend left something there was just checking if anyone was heading there. But I guess the weather may be an issue. sounds like there will be more skiing soon.

    Dweebus today:
Gorgeous (if you like blue sky) weather, cool temps.

Upper mountain virtually unskiable. Not enough snow to groom main pistes so moguls, with rocks in every turn. Off main runs just not enough coverage. If this week's storm materializes things should get sorted.

High speed lower mountain groomers were the order of the day and fun. Good to get out.

Side note: Thing #2's homie snapped a ski in half airing into punchy snow.

Doesn't look it but even this skied really well. Really wasn't bad skiing until you got down to Sessel and below.

It was rain and freezing rain to the top later in the day

Echoing RideinShockguns assessment of Alpental. We toured up to lower Shot 6 on Sunday and the skiing was good. One good 2 foot storm with some grooming to cover the creeks and Alpental will be open. Assuming that it doesn't get washed away this week

Perhaps a bit optimistic but I wasn't implying a full opening just a limited opening. Way more snow than I thought.

This weekend is looking like it could be pretty fantastic. 50 inches by Saturday with the storm still raging.

Sorry for the drive-by snark on my part. I am just a long-distance voyeur with a bit of nostalgic fondness for Alpental.

Snark is encouraged, especially from someone like you with great depth of familiarity with these mountains (being serious).

Snark went overhead a few posts up. Shrug

I thought the wink made it abundantly clear I was joking around. Everyone knows Alpental is renowned for its velvety 'roy.
