Night laps at Central were a blast tonight. Wet snow was just what the ice layer needed. Was still getting legit face shots off Triple Sixty on last run. Too bad it's going to end soon. Silver Fir and Alpental were closed for night session due to large open creeks which are no bueno for skiing in the dark.

Looks like a pretty awesome day lining up. Looks like there is a chance for the snow level to stay down for Thursday. It will atleast be pretty deep above midstation .

I'm pretty tied up today but I can go up there tomorrow.

With the dust on crust conditions I'd personally hone in on the glades off cedar park express. Open & low angle.

"Upper mountain closed for remainder of day due to Avalanche conditions"

    Something biggly went this morning?

Apparently a couple patrollers got caught in a slide this morning according to one of the lifties.

I was thinking more like why pay to run all those lifts on a rainy day when no one is here

    * It depends. If there's a tangled mess of semis blocking the highway, you're waiting. If it's avalanche-danger related, they might do control and get it flowing. If it's too dangerous to go out on a control mission, you might be stuck overnight. It's never a bad idea to pack a sleeping bag on a stormy night
    * Depends on how much I can get done, but I'm down to spin some laps as long as you're willing to hang with a sideways slider and wait while I strap-in
Sorry I missed this. I ended up going. My first experience with alpental last night was a good one. Fun night area. Obviously look forward to daytime and chair 2...conditions were far from epic, but soft turns were had! Hope you got some too. Warm now...

And before anyone asks no it's not OK to ask for a refund in these circumstances.

    Snow in the PNW 2019-20

Good debris reset at Alpy today, pretty much erased the frozen death chunk below it. The firm ice layer is still there especially on any pitch that shed (which was damn near every aspect). Wet and heavy hot pow, turned into gorilla snot on the last 500' of vertical.

    The hose is on.

Not so according to my sources.

In any event all are safe and well.

It would still be extremely bad form to ask for any refund due to the closure though.

I usually file a chargeback on my credit card when the skiing sucks

Goodlord, I just looked at the NWAC forecast, 5~6k freezing level, 5" or more of precip (read rain) between now and Friday.

Just don't forget your personal floatation device, you know, in the likely event of a water landing.

Wonder if I’ll get my pass refund I requested due to the weather?

Kinda bummed I didn't ride the padded seats this morning, but way less bummed to have not high-centered my Subie in the rain trying to do so. Getting home last night after spinning laps and hanging out with some friends was a real challenge.

I need a lift kit, I'll take this chatter to tech talk though

The first two hours at Stevens was quite lovely,,, that is when the 1 lift that they started on was actually running...

Fuck me sideways, their mountain ops is grossly incompetent... late openings, 7th Heaven is broke as shit, and when they did open the rest of the lifts,,, shit was sliding all over the place.. sluff (slough? slouff?) city all over...

    My sources confirmed two incidents
