Fullstack and I, left from my place at 6, and arrived no later than 7:15, with the lux of A lot parking. The atmosphere was electric, and you got to see a collection of motived/dedicated skiers. The lift rides always had some good conversations, so the stoke torch was held high.

The first run I stuck to the edge of Middle Ferks for certainly the longest untracked pow run of my life. Quickly the major trails became tracked, but the snow was soft and light enough initially that the chop still gave way as I charged through it. There were scraps still to be had late in the day. With the delayed opening of Northway, that brought more untracked lines while the mountain became a ghost town.

By the end of the day the lower mountain predictably became heavy and wet, but the snow on the upper mountain remained soft and maneuverable. Wish it was a little cooler, but cant complain on a powder day like this.

No real good pic as my mind was stuck in the snow.

Super glad to go on a weekday. I can ski whenever I catch a ride for the most part, weekdays included.

It was a killer day though.

Your shouldn't call it Ferks unless you know why it's not called iceberg.

I hate typing on the damn phone. Typing while cooking dinner certainly did not help. Typos fixed. Now we can get on with the ski stoke.

Snow was super weird today at Crustal.

It was deep, dense (duh), and also weirdly slow. Could just point yourself down hill and not worry too much. Double 00 laps were the best and stayed great well after chair 6 opened. Powder Bowl was fine except that Bear Pits on down was skiing for exercise, not joy.

Northway was even more dense than Chair 6 and much more stuff had slid when patrol did their work and the bottom half was the same heavy gloppy potatoes as Bear Pits.

    Super fun day tho!

You know, I've been thinking and in my mind it's obvious the best improvement for the padded seats experience would be a giant umbrella they can crank open for the first few chairs of people lined-up to wait beneath

Yesterday at the southern hill did not disappoint. Lower mountain great until about 10, upper mountain basically perfect the rest of the day. Ended the day with multiple laps of untracked. The run down to the bottom had some heavy funky shit though.

"Raining" heavily outside the window of the pass-level coffee shop which is as far as I made it this morning on my way to work. Fingers-crossed this will soften last night's crust and stay on the whiter than wetter side til it shuts off this evening

Eastern flow must still be winning at Highyak.

Everything is a straightline if you dont know how to turn... or stop. True story. When in doubt, straightline out...yada yada.

I couldn't help but notice that this morning's atmospheric moisture forecast looked a bit pachyderm-like:

Break out the big umbrellas, folks! Although, not sure even the largest of bumbershoots will provide adequate protection:

UPDATE: Windy Hill living up to its name w/ an 85mph gust & 52mph avg wind speed at the top to kick off the afternoon

99 gust at 1400. In other news, 46 and pouring rain at Snoqualmie pass. It’ll be good for the base...

Wow, over 4” of rain at Baker.

Called North Bend Pro Ski to ask if they'd resupplied on wash-in waterproofing and Sno Seal and sweet baby Jesus the guy was so excited to tell me they'd just restocked that shelf. I can't think of a better way to make it snow than preparing for heavy rain. Gonna wash and re-waterproof the non-fishing outerwear, clean the house and await the transition from wet -> white tomorrow. Might even get some laps in after dark tomorrow night!
