And just to put this McFish & Chips talk to rest.

If you're in London and you want really good fried, battered fish from a traditional chippie - go here

    Byob, nice.

Must get crowded though with everyone dragging a keg of Fullers in behind them.

    London beta

Take a boat to grenich sp? and go see the observatory, naval museum / horology (Time keeping) museum. Cool park there too. Then go eat at one of the pubs at the base of the hill and watch some football. FWIW the locals there (pub called the Green something) told me this was a proper pub and no proper pubs exist in London anymore.

Also go have a drink at the restaurant in the new sky scraper. Free to go up, a cocktail was like £20 but good cocktails and amazing view of the city.

A lot of great info here. The McDonald’s history puts it over the top though and it sounds like I should try the filet o fish before I die.

This is the one right by the Cutty Sark at the water. We didn't stop in, but it looks legit.

    London beta

Just stay in a central location, grab a map, and walk it. You can do most everything in 2 days. If you want a day trip, Windsor castle is a nice bus ride and day trip. I’ve never been to Hampton Court, but same idea.

Or you can go to the Royal Air Force Museum and see the rear turrent from my Grandads Lancaster on display. Tell them I sent you.

x10 on IWM and Hop on Hop Off.

We found a couple of good restaurants that I have recommended to everyone since we went two years ago:

Flat Iron is a local chain that has really good steaks. Only one cut of meat and like four choices of sides, but so freaking good and fairly cheap for London.

Went to a really good Indian restaurant in Carnaby called Dishoom that had a fairly long wait, but was worth it. They also feed your chai and shots of some liqueur while you're in line.

I'm sure the more foodie types on here have more suggestions, but I don't hear those two come up very often.

If the weather is nice take a stroll through Hyde Park. They may have their christmas village up and running by now which is apparently pretty cool to see.

You're in London, so go see Lords the famous cricket grounds, especially if you like baseball here in the US. It's basically the Wrigley/Fenway of cricket.

We did a Fat Tire Bike Tour (company name, not literally on fat bikes) around London. Specifically the Royal London Bike Tour. Had a great time. Was a super easy way to see a lot of the main sights of London. You don't get a chance to go into any of the places (Westminster Abbey, etc) but gives you a good lay of the land. Our guide was great and had a lot a good information. Was about 4 hours long and includes a break at Trafalgar Square for lunch. London is a dead easy place to bike around.

You don’t ever go off menu when it comes to fast food fish.

    Ever.

    Filet or nothing.
