Came inside and flipped on NBC, IMSA from Road America (awesome track btw), just in time for a microburst to hit including hail.

Like 10 wrecks all over the place. Crazy stuff.

Ain’t that the truth. After a red flag and the storm passed they gave em the green flag to finish the race just in time for another storm to come through. About 5 cars washed out trying to pass.

If you haven’t seen 4 classes of cars going at it full-bore in a monsoon at the end of a race on a road course, you should. Highly recommended action.

You just described the rush hour in the rain here in Seattle most of the year.
A few people feel the rain. Most people just get wet.

I may have to start watching Seattle traffic reports then cause the last half hour of this race was awesome.

    2020 Petit le Mans

Despite the loss of some usual cool stuff like the pre race grid walk and a reduced crowd, sunshine (and a clear night) made for another epic race day - 10 hours, 4 classes of cars, big time drivers from all corners of motorsport and fast as shit.

If I figure out how to post video I’ll add it.

Can’t wait till the boy gets a bit older and we can stay till the 11pm finish. Just watched the finale and the race for the overall win and DPi Class came down to a crazy crash between the Whelen Cadillac and the Penske Acura.

Super happy to see the Porsche Factory team take home the win in GTLM and they were 4 minutes away from going 1-2.

Until next year (and hopefully the Rolex24 in February)

Sorry for the sideways stuff - someone kick the box fan

How many spectators allowed in? Looked empty in most places on my tv.

I asked at the gate yesterday and they said it was capped at 75,000 or ~50% of last year’s. Definitely noticeable but it was still full of people and camping was sold out months ago.

Easy to keep social distance this year for sure even in our favorite spots and the mask wearing was consistent.

Biggest difference I noticed was the usual huge ticketed/invite-only pop up manufacturer hospitality venues like Porscheplatz and BMW’s had to go by the wayside.

They are redoing the St Pete GP this weekend. We had no idea and tried to go out Sat. night. Took 45 min. to find parking.
I need to pay more attention to what is going on. Might try to get some shots of it from the boat on Sat.

Rolex24 kicking off the season right now with an insane talent pool on these teams. Indy winners, Le Mans winners, Cup champions, F1 winners... lots of shakeup among the teams too with Porsche not fielding a factory team this season, which is really weird.

The lone 911RSR in GTLM getting wrecked by one of the BMWs on the warmup lap before the race even started is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen in racing. I fully expect a fight when the race ends.

NBC Sports Network until it flips over to NBC at 2.

Great coverage this year and crew/interviews/camera shots

    Sweet ride.

This caution is about to make the final 2 hours a great finish. Got em all back in together.

Yep, it been my experience that the brotherhood of speed brings out cool people from all different kinds of backgrounds.

Just look at how this race pulls people from every corner of Motorsport.

<2 hours to go and the green flag about to drop.

This year’s Daytona is one sharp looking piece of hardware.

Excellent racing coming down the stretch here.
