95% of the trail is pure intermediate. There are maybe three or four hard parts but none surprise you and they’re all easy to walk. I’ve ridden down to the toilet bowl on my gravel bike.

The toilet bowl line is down and left for the easy route. Not a bad one to walk if you’re solo and nervous.

Don't worry too much about the exposure - you'd kinda have to get off-route for there to be any. And the toilet bowl is easily walk/scoot-able. There's no requirement to ride it...

Do be a bit careful at the waterfall portion.

There's a short steep rocky bit right near the bottom. The trick is to go fast and pull up.

Looking for a new pair of MTB shoes.... would like them to be light (~400g), fairly stiff, and not look horrible. I ride mostly aggressive trail/enduro, never really full-on DH. I kind of like the Specialized Roost, but no velcro strap along the top is a deal breaker.

For my foot (on the narrow side of average), the Ion Rascal Amp fits pretty well. They're not particularly durable though.

Ride Concepts. I like the Wildcat shoe from them. Built very well and fairly burly but not over the top. Use it for everything from park to XC.

just like ski boots you need to try bike shoes on in person unless you have had enough shoes you know how a brand fits

I've had 3 pair of the spesh cuz they all fit narrow heel/ wide toe, I will go to the spesh store even tho I don't usually deal with them

shimano do not fit cuz they are too loose thru the mid foot so gave them away and quit trying

Not sure what your foot is like, but if it's wide at the forefoot (think flippers) I'm a big fan of my Bontrager Rally shoes. They're the only ones from like seven different mfgrs that actually fit wide feet and don't cut in on the toes and chop off long toes. No idea what they weigh but it's definitely way less than my 5.10 Impacts. Decent rubber and they're holding up well.

shimano do not fit cuz they are too loose thru the mid foot so gave them away and quit trying

I guess that’s why they work great for me. The Shimano flats fit like old Five Ten VXI.

They look good but yeah I gave one pair of Shimano's to the last GF and the other pair to the GF before that, they were pretty cheap on the close out table so they cost about what a bouquet of flowers would cost

but they didn't wilt

Snapped the bar clamp on my XT8100 brake in a crash yesterday (wasn’t torqued way down, just a weird crash that resulted in one side of my bars being buried 6 inches deep into dirt).

Is the clamp itself replaceable? Can’t find a Shimano part #. Seems stupid to need the entire lever assembly but I wouldn’t be surprised.

No individual part available, but the assembly body usually breaks at the lever pivot, so if you're lucky your local shop might have one in their parts bin.
The clamp pin is easily punched out to remove the clamp assembly.

Thanks, will call a couple shops in the morning. Lever assembly is $75CAD not that end of the world I guess, if needed.

For me it's more of a novelty, not even the best trail at lunch loops IMO. But its fun to do a few times a year.

Open to any other suggestions at Lunch Loops. I was drawn to the Ribbon for it's speed and flow. I'll be in the land of tech and figured some faster stuff would be a nice diversion.

The FIL has a house just up the road from lunch loop. When visiting my son and I do laps on Moto. It’s an easy climb for some quick flow, drops and jumps.

I’ve come to learn that apparently the RF SixC and NextR carbon bars I’ve had on all my bikes for last five years are actually on the stiff end of the spectrum, tho using only them, I’ve never had a basis for comparison. But suppose I could always be more comfy…. What’s a 35mm 780+ bar (will cut but want options) that sits middle of the road compliance/stiffness spectrum… comfort improvement from what I’ve been using but not total noodle.
