    Another one….

This hub? Just need an end cap or is it fucked? It’s an old specialized stout XC90. Don’t think they make

Tough to say if it's fucked, but definitely needs an end cap, which will probably be difficult to come by. So yeah, effectively fucked unless you know someone who's bored and has a nice lathe.

...or a 3D printer? If it's just missing a dust cap.

Hmmmm those are good ideas. I grabbed 4 random dust caps from my LBS yesterday, none are just the right fit. One fits well but is too long. I may just trim it to size and see if that will work.

I was just happy to find any sort of fatbike wheel for sale locally so I grabbed it so I’m determined to make it work.

I think the ideal situation would be to find one that fits well against the bearing but is too short. Then you just need a little sleeve that'd take up the extra length. That'd be pretty easy to make out of some appropriately sized tubing, or even just a stack of washers.

    Fox forks:

Will the Grip2 damper from a 27.5 Fox 36 fork fit a 29 Fox 36? The answer seems to me to be an obvious yes-the damper shouldn’t have any idea what length chassis it’s attached to as long as the diameter is the same. But I want to check with you guys. Jenson has the Fox Factory 36 with Grip2 for $700 which would be a great upgrade from my existing 34Rhythm from 2017, but I’d like to be able to swap the damper if I go for a 29er in the future.

Also, somebody talk me into/out of upgrading my existing aluminum Trance 2 with that fork vs getting a new bike. I’ve put a really nice DT350 Lightbicycle carbon wheelset on it and it’s got Deore 4-pots and Super Deluxe. Also an-1.5 degree Angleset. So it still gets along ok.

But I’m certainly lusting after a carbon XT Sentinel or Spectral 29er.

My issues with the Trance are that it feels overwhelmed in heavy brake bumps or chunder, and the 150 dropper gets in my way a lot with fairly short inseam.

Well one good thing about a sick kid and just sitting on the couch all day watching tv is the amount of research one can do on their phone. My wheels are hyper glide and not microspline. So looks like I could roll with my eagle stuff to save some cash which is nice.

Duct tape and a beer bottle worked fine in the Plattekill parking lot back in the day.

The NX eagle (12spd) cassette mounts on HG freehub. The small cog is 11 tooth.

    Basically old-school shimano.
SRAM NX 12 speed fits no problem on the regular shimano (non-micro spline) freehub. I am running one with no worries except it's a brick. If his shifter is 11, then yeah, find an 11 speed cassette.

Because of your drugs I almost bought the wrong cassette! I bet you didn’t think of that…. Your drug use affects others!

Do it again and this time make it a 2t. I have a separated shoulder and it is like therapy. After some time on the moto, I'll bet you can marry up your MTB with the moto for endless smiles and your MTB/Moto prowess will increase. Other than climbing, I think it's the best complimentary activity to MTB. Have fun and most of all, heal well!

So in a Drug-induced moment, I just tried to order an electric hot water ‘pressure’ washer. I have never shopped for such a thing. I don’t really care about the pressure, but a hot water rinse would be perfect for rinsing off the soils around here. And I could use it for driveway/car/deck tasks.
Saw some cheap ones, no heat, or more expensive gas ones, which I don’t want.
Then I found the one! A Hotsy 333.
    Goddamn, it is $3300.
Wonder how much for a plumber to run a hot pipe to the outside of the house?

Where is your water heater in relation to the driveway/washing area? It’s pretty darn easy to add a hydrant.

drug-induced purchases "show and tell" when you feel up to it. That Hotsy will take more than mud off your bike.

Pretty sure there is a ‘rinse’ function with very little pressure, like at the car wash when you aren’t holding the trigger.
