And there is one.
Was introduced to Cream freshman year of HS and been a big fan ever since. Love the driving sound of power. 80 is a good run. RIP Ginger

My first album purchase, Disraeli Gears. Far ahead of it's time and a fusion of styles uncharacteristic of the "popular" sounds of the day. Their (Cream) collective music is a treasure & inspired many. He lived hard and 80 ain't bad considering. RIP.

Can't believe he made it to 80. When I saw pictures of him in the late 60s, I thought, he's not long for this world.

I've got a double ended pulling boat with a sail rig here on the Coast of Maine that I named "Brave Ulysses". Always starts a conversation and I'll have to take her out this week to honor Ginger. RIP

While I grew up hearing Cream on the radio, I really didn't know who Ginger was until the '90s. I was more or less introduced to him via the music and production of Bill Laswell, specifically the 1990 Axiom Records release, Middle Passage, as well as his work with Jonas Hellborg, the badass Swedish bassist (1992's Unseen Rain).
His influence went so far beyond Cream and Blind Faith.
He drummed with Fela!
He drummed on PiL's seminal Album/Tape/CD!
He drummed with Hawkind!
Wherever he is now, they've got a hell of a rhythm section now.

Ginger could do the softness, too.
Killed it on Can't Find My Way Home.
I almost got to see Blind Faith in '69.
Had to settle for Three Dog Night.

He was a force. Complete ledge for sure. Miserable prick though. I thought he died. He looked like hed drop any second in the Chad Smith interview 5 years ago

Got really into cream, blind faith and spencer Davis at work cranking through nerd shit (read: boring) for hours on end. I quickly realized I’d been missing some amazing stuff. Tales of brave Ulysses amazing and cultural! Sea of Joy is also a favorite. Not sure why exactly.
Either way, I get that Ginger was a huge part of the attraction and will be missed.
