What hut, if I can ask? I'm headed to one in that neck of the woods in a week. And there's been a dearth of info available on conditions in that area.

Revy Friday was an all time day, deep Kootenay cold smoke. Saturday was the worst conditions of the week by far since Monday afternoon. Early AM alpine temperatures were -1 on Sat, the snow was very wet and heavy. Rain level prolly came up to around 1100m by late morning. But temps dropped suddenly by early afternoon in the Alpine. Fortunately it's suppose to cool off which will take some moisture out of the snow on the upper half of the mountain. Lower half is gonna be rain crust and ice in the days to come.

We were in the center of the atmospheric river and very lucky. Anything south pretty much got rain up to 1600m on Fri. I heard it rained in the Fernie Alpine and high up biggy, whitewater and red. But it's cooled off now and is snowing at the base of red and whitewater.

Not a hut that’s going to be advertised or anything u will find on the web. We were 5-10km N. west of Kokanee provincial park.

Snowpack 160-180cm/ very reactive surface hoar around 90cm/ freezing level was around 1800m thru this rain event/ not much snow below 1700m. Best Skiing is treeline and above

The Monashees, Selkirks and Lizard range saw freezing levels up to 1700-1800m between Fri-Sat. There is now a bomber crust up to that point. Gonna need more snow on top of it.

some touchy conditions around the region recently. Hope every one keeps their heads up. This persistent slab is really killing my big objective mojo for the year.

I think that's the case further south, but closer to Revelstoke and north, the freezing level didn't top 1,000m. There was definitely some heavy snow above that, but no melt-freeze crust until you get below 1,000m.

Just to add to what Alex said Infoex reports a region I'm going to roughly call Central and North Selkirks had FLs that were quite low. Selkirk Lodge south of Albert Canyon, Snowfall Lodge west of the Battle Range, a cat ski op E of Trout Lake, another cat ski op around Ainsworth, SME and Mica (N of Revy), Eagle Pass (W of Revy) all came in with snow to 1000-1200m.

    The region dodged a bullet

On paper the conditions here (Red Mt) are horrendous right now. We have a 4” base at the ski area base. However, the skiing is actually very good. The rain soaked snowpack has completely set up so you are right on top of it and there is 6 to 9 inches of really nice smooth fast snow on the surface. Really good conditions in the right places. Worth buying a lift ticket? No. But good skiing nonetheless.

Silly question - I'm going to be in Revy for a week with the wife and our dog. Any recommendations for dog walkers in that area to walk the dog once a day while we ski?

I skied at RMR last sunday and there was melt/freeze crust up to 1700m half way up the ripper chair... well above 1000m. The base of the Ripper is around 1500 and it was rock solid down there Sun-Mon. Same with the bottom of the new stellar chair and anything below the Stoke. Skiing last Sat it was raining half way up the mountain. We didn't get it as bad as further south but we absolutely got hit by the rain and warm up Fri night-Sat morning.

Great when that happens. Mustve done something for someone. We had an uptrack apart from 100ft to get to my fave line they left for us . They finished in tight trees so they could put in the exit track as well. Very nice of them

Red Mountain now has all of the upper lifts turning. Have had surprisingly good skiing on the upper 1/3 of the mountain, but seriously low tide conditions elsewhere. Exploring the “soft” closures requires rock skis, local route-finding knowledge, and high level bush-whacking skills.

10cm in the last hour on the porch, and predicted to keep it up until tomorrow eve. Looks like it's snorkel time in the north Columbias/Cariboos! Just in time for a birthday brappp and a turn or two. Thank you Ullr!

Headed to Big White the first week of March to meet up with my lady's family who are doing the Airline Ski racing week. Any info on discounted lift tickets? Spots in the village to check out/avoid?

gonna head over to Nelson afterwards to ski at Red/Whitewater and then a catski day with Valhalla.
