The trick is trying to figure out what judges are going to score well comp to comp. It's inconsistent and always has been. Sometimes they seem to dig the tricks, sometimes the charging, and sometimes it makes no sense at all what they like. As a competitor it's tough to figure out, especially if you have tools to trick and/or charge in your bag. Of course, as I've mentioned ad nauseam in this thread, there's more to it than the skiing. And that's kind of a bummer.
Bummer indeed - yet another instance of athletes being cannon fodder.

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

Funny how Hank Bilous is looking like 91 years old grandpa on the podium foto.

Oh yeah, how about Hedwig Wessel's backflip? That's the raddest thing I've ever seen thrown down in the women's field by a long shot, especially considering the conditions.

Got two laps of Ozone ( the KH venue for FWT) in today when it was opened. Guess they thought they'd get some skier compaction in before the storm on the weekend.

I was wondering why they opened it as well. Decent turns on there today.

    Congrats Aldo!

The announcers were like listening to NPR ladies in the Schweddy ball skit. Completely devoid of emotion and never raised their voice over a whisper. Their calm voices made me feel stoned and sleepy. Might as well program AI to do announcing next time FWT.

^^^ Bummer the usual Kappl venue of the last few years was unavailable for this comp. Must say that I nonetheless found the Jr Worlds very entertaining (the men's ski category anyway). It's kind of cool sometimes to see what top notch skiers will pull off on a rather mundane venue. Leonardo was a deserved winner. The prolonged spready at the end was the perfect exclamation point to the run.

    Pumped for Golden!

And speaking of FWT Golden I'm watching Ep.2 of Insider on yt and they show clips off a conference call between FWT organizers and Smithers resident Uwe Gramann who is as unassuming as they get. I had heard he was a big deal meteorologist and I guess I had heard right. And he gave me a wood stove once. Good dude.

With the new broadcast not being live, does that mean we can watch Saturday or what?

FWT told me on IG that it will be posted 48 hours after the event, same as Japan. So, Sunday?

Comp is tomorrow. First rider is at 8:45. maybe I could live broadcast on instagram?

Pretty bummed to just find out that media aren't allowed anywhere near the venue because they are afraid of people leaking photos of the leaders chair and podium. Unfortunately that means there won't be many unique angles of the comp. Bummed because I had scoped out a few spots

Can’t be easy to keep the results from leaking - don’t think this format is going to be sustainable. They get flamed every time they post something on IG

Some stuff was leaking in Hakuba, but it seemed like peeps were doing their job. Could seriously affect your scores if you were a leaker.

    Hope all is well Bob!
