Agreed. 90% of the field skied pretty much the same 2 lines. A lot of that probably has to do with the venue and snow conditions, but I wish the judges would do a little more to reward an interesting line selection.

Limited on time these days so this is good to know. I'll just watch my favorites and the podium runs.
Common sense. So rare today in America it's almost like having a superpower.

YuuugeMungus skied a different line with some nice big mountain flavor. Had some bobbles, but the judges killed him. Too low IMO.

Is that the same Reine Barkered? This one floats perfect backies. Impressed with his evolution.

Congrats to Leo - coming back from an Achilles and winning? Wow.

Lots of good skiing out there. Even from T-Hall.

I agree with your Yu assessment. Unique line with some harsh punishment from the judges.

    I loved Reine’s line too.

Decent show. Venue seems shorter than before? Isn't I don't think, but it sure seemed so.

Full replay is in YouTube. Considering the conditions, I thought the guys were really charging. Scary to charge low tide that’s just had all the rocks covered by fresh snow.

Got to say I prefer the delayed broadcast of the first two stops. Takes way less time to watch and don’t have to listen to the announcers as much.

I think the FWT yet again runs a venue that is far to small and mellow for the men's skiers. What happened to the other European venues like chamonix etc that were steep & big faces and gnarly doubles etc where the athletes seemed to actually have to pay attention vs just ski on auto pilot from one small cliff to the next? There's barely any features on this venue just like kicking horse and hakuba.

I can't find the usual one, but use this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQIMxXu4vpY&t=10467s

The skiers' start times are linked by some friendly soul in the comments below.

It's starting to look like the IFSA comps at Snowbird. 50% of the guys knew the winning line, 25% of them skied it, 5% made it look great. Of the other 25% that knew it, but didn't ski it, a few were some of my favorites to watch.

That said, the tricks have been scoring, so you're seeing that shift, and snow was kinda tough in spots, great in others.

    Freeride World Tour - 2020

I was actually the most stoked on the Andorra local police officer who linked up all the big drops and sent them!

He was heavily penalized for one back slap and getting hooked up like 30 feet from the finish gate. Whatever.

To me, that was a much better run than the seemingly mandatory backflip / 360 top airs that scored well for many.

I think Isaac Freeland got robbed, but I'm a sucker for a screamin semen.

I think the Andorra venue is actually a pretty rad venue with a ton of features that riders can throw tricks off. The biggest issue with Andorra (and most of Europe) is lack of snow. its the freeride WORLD tour, not the freeride european tour, so I'm glad to see venues outside of Europe. I think one of the issues is the level of skiing is so high, these guys all make it look super easy, but I think the venues are all rad in their respect.

Nothing on the FWT the last few years has come close to a venue like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1olH-rdocPw

This is freeride. It's the FREERIDE world tour, not the freestyle world tour.

I'd guess support from the region or resort plays into location heavily. You can't financially just pick a venue based only on terrain.

Agreed, way too much skiing across the fall line to "link" features IMO.

Yeah, his run was awesome. He had like 3 more solid hits than any other competitor. I was super bummed he stuffed it right in front of the finish coral - I really would've liked to see how they scored that run.

I don't think Andorra would work as a venue if people just skied fast down the fall line.

100% agree that the Chamonix venue is incredible.

I was going to say the same. Punished for being first out the gate.

As someone with experience trying to secure funding for events, I’ll just add that the audience should be stoked a tour actually exists at all.

The FWT is not overwhelmed with venue options. They’re clinging to them.
