My Shimano rep wanted me to try the new 12 sp.
I really would like to wait till the Di2 version comes out, though.
Di2 is so sick. I, like most, poo pooed electric shifting when it came out, Then I tried it.
It really is amazing., Bang, bang, bang. Fast and perfect shifts every time.
And perfect forever (OK, maybe not forever) no cable wear. nothing, just dead on.

Does it still work when you bang that derailler off a rock? Or are you stuck with an even more expensive hunk of metal than if you ran a normal D?

Seriously guys, I went over all the objections stated here before I bought it. Is it more delicate? What if the battery dies? stuff like that. They really are non-issues.
The battery lasts literally months on a charge and it tells you how much charge is left every time you shift. By the time it's down to one bar, you still have weeks to put it on the charger. IOW, if the battery dies, it's kinda on you. It's like complaing about a pinch flat because you never aired up the tire.
It's XTR, the best that Shimano makes. It's robust, light, and works incredibly well. Bontrager's famous phrase, "Light, strong, cheap, pick any two". Here you get all three.

Sick deal. I’m sure it’s awesome. More of a SRAM guy myself and happy with my Eagle but someone should get on this.
There's nothing better than sliding down snow, and flying through the air

There was a video on PinkBike a year ago of a couple dudes slogging through Iceland with Di2 on some kind of weeks long hell ride. Convinced me that it’s worth considering.

Do you have cassette and chain too? Full package might make this worth it for me. Figuring out a build right now.
