Anybody repaired a microwave oven?
Everything works but it doesn't heat anything. When the magnetron kicks on, it's noisier than it was, so pretty sure that it's the magnetron, which seems to be about $100-150.
The repair guys I talked to just said get a new one. It's an over the range unit, so replacement is $300-400. WTF, I feel like taking it apart while a game is on.Well maybe I'm the faggot America

I figured if there was somebody here who actually had repaired a microwave, they would understand enough of what I meant and then ask for something specific, I would then provide the specific information.

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

My micro will stop the heating cycle after a few minutes. Usually after some component heats up and shuts off. There is an audible difference when that happens. The fan, turn table and light still work, but the crucial microwave emitter cuts out. I’ve been dealing with this for a year, while I have a used replacement unit sitting in the garage.

Go for it. Youtube and sites like this are your friends. You will probably need a special philips like bit for the casing, I think they are called "security" bits or something to keep everyone except TRAINED PROFESSIONALS out of the danger inside. Took me 2 min on Amazon, $12 and 24 hours later I had the security bits. Watch out for the capacitor. it sores a shitload of energy. good luck!

My friend Reed gave me his microwave in 2001. I grew up in a family where my dad wouldn't take his shoes inside. He was security inside the reactors at Indian point.
We had no microwave.
So fast forward to 2001. Reed says his microwave is shit and he and Marla want a new one. Before he tosses it he asks if I could use it.
Fuck yeah, never had one.
18 years later, that thing is still cranking. Only microwave I've ever owned. Is it radix panax notoginseng? - splat

Is 2001 also the year you last acquired a bottle of windex?

I took apart an early 80s Honeywell decades ago and tried to make a death ray, does that count?
microwave pic above kinda reminds me of the story out of the demise of Clark foam where they'd use the same micro to heat food as they used to heat up chemicals.
