Expected life expectancy of G3 Ion's

I am bored at work on rainy day so stupid question (maybe?)

Have some Ion's that I skied on hard for 4 seasons and they are sitting in a box now for 6 months.

Doing a hut trip this winter and wouldn't mind getting a lighter set up then my shifts for the week.

Wondering about the collectives experiences with them. Obviously inspect for any defects but do the springs get tired? They seemed to be performing fine last few times I used them.

Probably be fine. Never had any problem with mine that got used hard and often skied inbounds.

Maybe try and find a single one to take for spares?

My toe springs got weaker after 100 days. And the toe assembly developed a side to side play.
Which is why i switched to Salomon mtn

heel things to look at:
-that the worm screw assembly isn't worn or damaged
-the heel turret isn't broken or damaged in some way
-that the heel returns to center or stays locked to the side when in tour mode
-that you can read or decipher the binding release settings window/plastic sticker

toes:
-that they do what they're supposed to

Bit of a thread drift.... Any other similar options any one would recommend? Was super happy with my ions but always like checking out new stuff. Are the Zeds just a simpler and lighter version? I like to go fast with the odd big air and pillow charging.

zed is lighter, uses the same hole pattern
me? the more i use and play with the Tecton the more I like it

I tend to get about 2 seasons out of them but that’s almost 300 days. So pretty happy with them.

I was on a week-long hut trip last January, and three separate people had issues with heel pieces on the G3 Zed (had to do with a lack of forward pressure transitioning from uphill to downhill mode - heel not sliding back into place). All of them ended up carrying a screwdriver in their pack by the end of the week...

Binding springs are pretty bomb proof. It's everything around them that holds them together and adjustment peripherals that degrade over time and heavy use.

I got over 250+ days on my first pair of IonLTs without issue (sold em cheap with full disclosure), and am over a 100 days on my 2nd. They seem bombproof and you shouldn’t have any concerns. IMO the jury’s still out on the long term reliability of Zeds.
