I'll be skiing Alpine tomorrow wearing a swimsuit given the current forecast...

That and I'll be there for my son's race, so say hi!

Squaw will also be mostly closed on Sunday with the high winds. They'll probably keep KT and Red Dog running, -and they can definitely entertain- but you might not feel like it was worth $90. If you're able to stay until Monday, I'll show you around Squaw or Alpine.

Also, Bluto, I can't believe you would spoil your stash like that, man, but thanks for the stoke! Glad you got it for yourself.

Lost my Free the Powder mittens at kirkwood on Wednesday. They probably landed in the Timber Creek parking lot or along the road.Click image for larger version.

And I'm in love with Cate Blanchett, but she's too far away, and so is the 12th.

Not sure what was worse today, the skiing at Squaw or the ending to the Superbowl.

KW skied well in the morning on piste and north facing protected bumps. Vail is finally grooming like KW used to, getting the five off chair 6. Olympic is such a fun groomer lap. They are finally figuring out that the powder haven need some trimming and waxing when I’m between storm systems. Quite weekend, especially Sunday. Still, that did not stop the 20mph pain train going down 88 in the afternoon. A little snow and ice and those valley dweller drivers sure do get gripped.

I didn't ski at Squaw but I think the skiing would've been infinitely worse than the ending of the SB..."How 'bout them CHIEFS?!?!"

Alpine was pretty fun on Satuday. Gorgeous weather, groomers were on point although a bit scraped off by the end of the day. After my son's race on Kangaroo, we took the kids for some laps on Sherwood in the sun and was springtastic. Finished the day with a Scott Chute lap and was pretty satisfying.

Skied the first hour at Squaw yesterday with plan on headed back home to watch the game. The flat light rolled in right as the lifts started to spin so we decided getting an early chair on Squaw One for some early Mountain Run corduroy down to KT where basically only Saddle was open. Figured the best way to end our session was 4 laps on Far East and had great groomer turns. I did venture off piste a bit off Far East and was mostly frozen crap even with warm overnight temps. I can't imagine that stuff is fun today given the cold temps.

If every resort it Tahoe was blowing snow at there capacity today it would be a drop in the bucket compared to what Mother Nature moved with the winds today. Probably be some touchy windslab out there Tomorrow, even inbounds we got wind slab fractures today.

Edit to add: thanks for turning me on to that song old goat

Ralston Pk. on Saturday. Travel was from Sierra Pines Camp. Nice view of Deso Wilderness from the summit. After scooting north along the ridge from the summit, took a run down to Ralston Lake. It was character building glazed breakable crust. On the way back up to the summit ran into a group of 3 French Canadians on snowshoes, and a fourth attempting to fix his broken snowshoe strap. None of them would admit it was their idea to snowshoe. The run from the summit to Sierra Pines was delightful corn skiing. Total ski vert., measured 3,920 ft., and travel time was just at 7 hours.

Brutal conditions yesterday, and cold as all hell up off Rose. The snow helped some, but then the North wind stole it all. I suspect south slope farming will once again be the move later this week. As for now...try to find low angle pockets or be prepared for some extremely variable chunder.

On an optimistic note though: there was at least 1 windblown pocket that provided 1 nice turn and a little spray. *Celebrate!*

From the valley the Sierra was super clear yesterday. Even from 100 plus miles away I could see plumes of blowing snow coming off the peaks!

Monday was sunny and cold AF at kirkwood. Wind was howling up top. 6 and 10 didn’t pop all day but those gullies up top looked like wind blown sweetness.

I concur on the windy AF comments on Monday. Was gonna hit Stevens, RLP, etc., but saw the plumes off Pyramid all the way from Eldorado hills, so changed plans and did Tallac trees. Anything exposed was a hodge-podge of 1 inch snow patches mixed with areas scraped down to the old ice crust. In the trees above 8500 there was some semi-kinda-ok skiing, with maybe 3-5 inches in spots, but still bottoming out In places.

    Pics:
There were one or two bushes starting to peak above the snow:
