The days are getting longer and Squaw delivered the goods yesterday. Super windy at 9 am. but by 10:30 it was just snowing. Upper Mountain didn't open, but KT and Olympic Lady were $. Not too crowded for a holiday weekend with fresh snow. Should be great out there today.

Last two days at Squaw were actually pretty fun. Lots of blown in stashes on KT on Saturday and even more so yesterday.

Key to Squaw to me is on busy days like yesterday is to head straight to Far East Express (if open) and take a few burners on that as the crowds and ski teams disperse. If Funitel is running, most people head up there while most of us on this message board head to KT. Just stretch your arms and legs and take in all that KT has to offer from Red Dog Ridge to Enchanted Forest and everything in between. Sure, being lower elevation means a bit funkier snow but the terrain is amazing. You can always jump on Headwall from KT and session the Slot, Light Towers, CII Bowl etc. If Silverado is open, its a must but snow can be funky in there as well. If its INSANELY crowded, I'd honestly mess around on the steeps that Squaw Creek and Red Dog have to offer...so much terrain in there and never gets a ton of traffic. Sandy's Pub at Squaw Creek is a pretty tasty lunch spot as well.

Sierra Watch is opposed--befouling the pristine natural environment that is the base of Alpine Meadows and the development along the road and Bear Creek.
I wish Troy luck. I'd be surprised if he didn't continue to allow hiking on the 5 lakes trail.

Loved me some kirkwood today. Tons of fresh, minimal lines, backside opened just as light was getting flat on the front, and the hooting and hollering could be heard for hours.
First day on the board this year, tried to figure out how to ski yesterday, will probably continue that endeavor tomorrow.
Day 3 with no running water, looks like we might get a plumber on day 4.
JB Water Weld... doesn’t. At least, not so far. 3rd try tonight.
Ran down to south lake yesterday afternoon and back up the hill after dinner. Roads were eventful but nothing too bad other than getting stuck behind a plow.
Snow started sticking at the Y around 5pm.

This morning, big rig with no chains spun out and blocked both directions at Carson pass around 8am per CalTrans10.
Sadly for us it re-opened before we got on the hill (9:45ish arrival). We had to walk a whole couple hundred feet from parking.

Yeah that asshole trucker almost ended up in the Things That Annoy Me Thread. He ignored the signs and got thru hope valley chain control just before they staffed it.

2 quick runs off Scott this AM were fun. Areas protected from the wind didn't have the hard layer underneath. First pow day with the new lift and all lifts running. Seemed to spread folks out a bit more at the start.

Super deep in the hood today. Nearly twice as deep as the wood.

It’s looking pretty good right now after those low elevation storms we had (photo is from a few days ago)... but during the average season it seems like the window for good skiing on his terrain is pretty limited due to the aspect and sun exposure.

We found excellent conditions as well, and then the wind came. In 2 hours it formed serious slabs and cornices, so be careful out there tomorrow.

as far as skiing goes I don't expect it will be great, except maybe in the spring. I think Troy realizes that and figures that real estate development is more likely to be fruitful.

    What an awesome day today!
Heavenly's reported 4" new ski'd much deeper. I spun Mott & Killebrew laps all day, fresh lines every run til they kicked me out.
And I'm sure it'll be plenty busy this weekend and beyond, but today it was a ghost town!

Snow surface has been all time with these cold (for tahoe) temps. Coverage below 7.5k could still use some help
