Was skinning up that gully on the right today, basketball sized rock barreled right down the gut, taking 12 foot long bounces at times, crossed the skin track several times

Hopefully we can move backwards a bit out of third place! Only 2013 included in the 'core' drought years, but interesting to see 2016 (still part of the 2012-2016 drought (using water years, Oct 2011-Sep 2016)) make the list. If we back off the dry spell duration to 27 days (above uses 28), 2012 makes it onto the list with 0.60". 2018 also a close one with 0.71" between Feb 1-Feb 25.

Edit since I pulled precip not snow like you asked, I checked that and we're 6th in least snowy with 1 measly inch recorded. 2013 being 7th with 2 inches.

    tl;dr
given the long-range forecast, February 2020 is on track to be in the top 10 driest and (a top 20 least snowy) Februaries in the last century for Tahoe City if not top 5.
I was hoping you’d respond to my post, thanks. Man, 1912 sucked... i can barely remember it. ;-)

Haven't done much to the website lately, but just put out this POST about the Santa Rosa Range (from last week). For anyone looking for something different this weekend, I would highly recommend the drive. Seems like the storm track has been brushing those mountains a little more than around here lately...

you can park at red lake parking but it means you have to switch to skins to cross the lake on the way out. and crossing the road is kind of lame but...

With skis you can ski/skate back to the dam, never have skinned back after parking at red lake. I parked in the dirt road pullout last Thursday without incident just before the passing lane, can pull a fair ways in now (that where you got your warning ticket?)

I parked just past the start of the passing lane on the side of the road. Bummer, that was such a sweet finish.

Can’t really listen to music while skinning I guess. Was wondering about that.

True, but if you ski the other gazex gully (i grew up thinking it WAS the gazex gully) you get another 400' on the other side of the road via the cool tree pullout down to the far end of the lake for beers (the stuff peeling off from the right of the tower down to the aspen below).

^^^Speaking of free, I very much enjoyed today the free pair of Rossi race skis I picked up from you last spring. They were so much fun on the groomers in the 10-noon period.

Glad those race skis were fun for you. Too bad the forecast looks like yet another 2 more weeks of racing conditions for all of us, haha. During the softer hours of the day, did you ever try those old 2010 Mantras from that same Safeway parking lot transaction we did?
