The Official 19/20 Tahoe Ski Snowboard Thread. Plus bonus Bootfitting Recs!

    Thx.

That clears it up more, a bit. It seems that season pass holders can go whenever they want. Non-season pass holders need to reserve ahead of time, with limited ticket availability of an unknown quantity.

    Trail etiquette police

If you are one of these riders, shame on you. Last Saturday on the rim trail at Rose Wilderness boundary. Two ebikes and another bike, unsure if electrified. Just took off right in front of me past the sign. Pretty shocking. I know these violations happen and I'm not necessarily opposed. I just think you ought to be circumspect about it. Don't do it on the first good Saturday in a month. Wait until the inevitable October heat wave and go on a Wednesday early in the morning. If you get yelled at, or somebuddy calls you in, you deserve it for shitty opsec.

Also, if you make tracks like this shithook across the trail, you are a shitty rider and need to practice more. Trails are getting washboards and ruts because y'all don't know how to ride berms or brake gently. Go practice being a better rider (and come do trail work).

Yeh, us too. 2 dickheads on "mopeds" on no-bikes section between spooner and snow valley peak, yesterday.
And another "moped" guy, with dog running off leash beside him, on Marlette lake trail a coupla weeks back. Also hike and equestrian only.

It's not like they are losing out. Tons of legally rideable trails all around. You know, the ones that are moon dust, or deep ruts from all the e-moped-bikes...

You'd think having like just 3 or 4 trails, in all of the tahoe basin, that are set aside for peeps who want to hike without biking assholes would be ok?
But no, 'cos they are so fucking *special*.
They're not even getting exercise, or grooving on nature!!?? Recreation in the style of virtual reality?

Why da-fuk have they got to choose to go and mess up the day of innocent peeps kinding their own business?
    ☆☆Rebels without a cause☆☆
"Hey look at me. I'm an asshole with a really expensive bit of gear. Worship me!!"

Because they know they are not gonna be facing any consequences.

Let's get them busted, confiscate their bikes, and sell off at auction in the spring. Raise money for trails and rangers.

If summer Northstar is any indication, our ski season is fucked. (Resort anyway.)

Yep. As you can see the mask and social distancing rules are being strictly enforced.

30-40 minutes per lap if you don’t get stuck behind a slow rider but you can lap the lower gondi lines with no wait.

If you’re sad you missed out, I’ve got the same ski in a 187 length plus tectons, skins and ski crampons over in gear swap. Located in SF but I’ll be coming through Tahoe soon.

Today was especially crowded for a Friday in September. I think there's some extra factors at work though. National Forests, state parks and all of that was closed for a couple of weeks, and choking smoke kept everyone indoors. Fast forward to this weekend: Tahoe is open, the skies are clear and it is supposed to be fuckin' hot in the low lands. We're definitely seeing some pent up demand. Making matters worse, Forests and outdoor recreation is still closed in central and souther Cali, so we're seeing more of that traffic than normal. Hopefully we will find some equilibrium that is tolerable soon.

I think one huge factor is that coming to Tahoe and camping and going to the lake is relatively cheap as compared to coming here for a ski vacation. If resorts turn off wifi in the lodges, close bars and don't broadcast sports....many will just not come.
    Fuck those fucking motherfuckers!

Quite the nonchalant article about a mysterious skull. "Ehh we'll get to it next week"

Bike park has been like that everyday all year. Biggest lines ever. Least days open, least lifts running, full price.

The most disturbing part to me has been the mountain managers saying "you are lucky to be here" when i bring up these issues.

This. Or rather, so challenging it was not a fun as other rides.

Mammoth has way more miles of trails coming off mid and top station. Even with Canyon closed, they have way more capacity than N*, which is basically mostly DH right back to the lift.

Mike - have you tried lifts at Mammoth? Way more flow options than N*. So instead of quick lift and bambambambam to the lift, it is more quick lift and bike to the Village, peddle up, or shuttle. It is just a more mellow experience.

I used to like peddling up to Chair 2 at KW and riding that for free before Vail changed the rule. it ws more about chilling on the slow chair in-between riding.

E-bike is the way to go to get miles. My buddy even rode his e-bike at Mammoth instead if his DH because the trails are more up and down and his DH basically should not even have a drive train it sucks so much to peddle.
