Years ago, first time I got canned from a real job came as a shock. It shouldn't have, owner was a real dick head, and I wasn't playing the game. I sucked up my pride and started looking for another job in the same field. First place I went into, I fessed up that I was let go and from where. Interviewer raised his eyebrows and proceeded to tell me the story how he'd been fucked over by the guy who canned me. For the next couple of weeks, every place I interviewed, same thing happened. The owner or supervisor had to tell me the story of how they too were royally fucked over by this guy. It turned out to be a great icebreaker. Got a better job and more money out of it..

Sorry to hear you got the boot. That sucks ass.

PM me if you want the LinkedIn connection. I think we probably have some vaguely overlapping interests and geographic afflictions.

I got several qt jars of pear butter canned this weekend.

Also made 15 gals of pear juice which in about a year will be Perry.

Sucks, nothing any of us can say that quells the resentments associated with getting canned. Even the best possible scenario still leaves me pissed when it happens.
Mrs Jong and I both got laid off August 2018. She quickly found another job that sucked, and another, then third that was OK. I got picked up by a contractor late November, the week my unemployment ran out.. Better pay, much better benefits than what I'd had working contract to contract under three vendors doing similar stuff at the same client since 2006. Mrs Jong got laid off again last month and got the first job she interviewed for, so stepping from one gig to another with plenty of vacation accrual and severance from the company laying her off. Drive sucks way worse but she's going with it for now.

Hang in there. If you look, you'll find something as good or better assuming your skills are in demand.

If you travel and end up out this way, lunch is on me. If I have money to go ski or whatever, I can afford to buy a mag that's between jobs some lunch..
Go that way really REALLY fast. If something gets in your way, TURN!

Yeah I thought the term for getting fired was ‘shitcanned’ to avoid this confusion. But language has many nuances.

I posted condolences but reading the thread reminded me of the last time I was fired about 10 yrs ago. Had another job lined up and I’m sure my interest level at the current job was painfully obvious. When I was sat down for the talk a remarkable thing happened. She goes into a pitch and whatnot to can me, saying it’s just not a good fit and my motivation is lacking - then I say cool I have another job lined up at ____.
____ company was in a building real close by so she knew the well established company. “Wait, you already have another job?” Ya. “How did you get a job there?” Blah blah
We keep taking and I negotiated finishing out my current business deals by explaining they were frail and if I wasn’t at the helm to close out you risk losing the commission. Ended up leaving relatively amicably with a 5 figure check 3-4 weeks later. Then my new job started 2 weeks after that. She showed me

It was weird though to be at a place that didn’t want your services.. and they went out of business a few years later.

Vibes, Brock. I don't know any employment lawyers but I can probably find some good ones in Colorado, if that helps.

i’ll see your juice with some marinara.

brock, i am also doing about five gallons of hard cider if you make your way up here.

and honestly, anyone that’s never been fired from a job is not someone i’d want to know anyway.

You are relentless, why do you keep coming around here? Serious question, all you do is bitch and proclaim your self righteousness. What do you gain from this community?
BTW Pio is a labor lawyer- same but different.

That was inappropriate in this thread.
