Been working on my next daily, I’m dying a slow death in the suburban. Always loved this chassis with the 4.2 in it. Clean car with sport package and a rare interior, sport seats in a dark brown I’ve never seen. Psyched to be in a true touring car again... I toyed with putting a 6 speed in here, but I’m good with the auto.

Those audi V8 scare me. Gotta pull the engine to get to the timing chain, and then it looks like this? holy shit.

V8 and bigger Engine car thread
Mine was done at 75k. 85k on the clock now. Not cheap but runs like a clock. I knew that rattle at start up meant bucks. Lucky to get past 100-120k without dropping the $.

@aldo... Touche....
BMW 4.4l have a similar issue, bit easier to deal with than the gnarly Audi one though as it is on the front of the engine.

Pro Mod drag car, mountain motor pro stock dragsters, truck pullers, offshore boats. Sonny Leonard has been in the "mountain motor" business for many years. Used to build all of Mercury Marine's offshore motors. They took them out, ran them for two hours, and if they stayed together, he got paid.

Ya if you can get one why not. Daily driving is unbelievable. Pure luxury. Shit mileage until the engine warms up. Tires go after 17k miles I’ve found. Blows nearly everyone. Most of the cars that can beat it cost 10x more and have shittier interiors. I see quite a few w210 eclasses on the road too. None have the monoblocks or amg engine.
Obvi the w211 from 2003’to 08 I think are far faster but I dislike the body. They also weren’t produced in the amg factory in Germany as far as I know. My car is at the AMG factory museum. Jay Leno has one but his packs the more desirable two tone interior.
I know somebody who paid 50k for a rs5. It looks dope and all but it’s not a fucking Benz.

I was actually gonna ask if yours was done. That’s crazy. What’s your plan going forward out of curiosity? Gonna sell before any indication of any issue, sell as soon as you hear an issue, not gonna sell and replace chain (these all assume the inevitable)?
Do you feel like yours has lost much vim at 150k?

Yeah the newer e55 and e63 all have the crazy ass hydraulic suspension that is mega pricey to fix. And the w210 has the bulletproof motor. I like the idea of more power, but I do love the 6spd manual, and 280hp ain't bad. It's not 355, but it ain't bad. Carries speed well on the freeway.
