    Santa Cruz

Decided to test their frame warranty because of a cosmetic issue and much to my surprise they're sending me a new frame. The clear coat (or whatever it is) is peeling off from sweat I believe.

I was honestly feeling like they'd just say put a sticker over it and here's a tee shirt for your troubles, but no...new frame shipping out. They don't have the black, so Banana Slug yellow it is.

My friend's son tore the fork out the front of the head tube on his carbon Hightower. He sent pics and they are sending a new frame, shock, and fork.

Makes me curious if there was something wrong with a batch of carbon they built out with.

Randomly, I have that same thing happening on my v1 tallboy. Didn't notice it until this year. I'm the second owner, though, so no warranty for me.

Yeah, my bud has a tallboy and the whole top tube is flaked off. He had put a sticker on it previously so he kinda felt like it was his fault...but it wasn't.

And yeah, my sweat is good ole NE IPA's...high-test!

I might just turn around a sell it off now with a brand new frame. This certainly has made me a fan of SC. Every company has its issues, but these guys are standing behind it...which is nice.

Question - did you have to send that in to them for them to decide on it?

Or did you send them pics, etc?

got the same issue, but don't want to send my frame in until winter ha ha.

Filled out the warranty claim online and attached pics.

They are sending the frame out and then I'll swap all the parts over. There is no real downtime without a bike. Just the breakdown and rebuild of new frame. It's almost not worth doing for cosmetic issues maybe. I was concerned with resale value as I might be moving on soon.

Santa Cruz's warranty dept is awesome. I had the dropout mount separate on my '17 Chameleon, they offered to replace it for shipping cost, and gave me the option to upgrade to the carbon model for a very low price.

That's great to see! I think the yellow is better anyways! I assume you are the original owner? I've heard they are good with even 2nd owners and offer crash replacement...

They've taken care of me a couple of times, once with a Blur and once with a Stigmata road bike with switchable dropouts (now that's a cool bike. Unlike the new ones, this one could switch between vertical road and horizontal fixie dropouts.)

Great company, will always recommend. We have 4 of their bikes in the garage right now.

That's interesting as I had the same issue and they wouldn't send me the new/replacement front triangle until I sent them a picture of my old front triangle with the bottom bracket cut out. Once I sent them the picture they had the new frame in the mail the next day. Could have been that my frame was a bit older (6 yrs since purchase) and at that point they only had a 5 year warranty on the frame (now lifetime) but since they had a replacement frame in the same size they were happy to help me out.

When you're over the hill in need of little blue pills is that when one begins to refer to a bicycle or car as "sexy"?

I can only relate to definition (1) or (A) when using that term. So yeah, you've lost me. Do you want to fuck your bike?

Well the darndest thing... My top tube paint is starting to look like it's delaminating...

Now I have to find my receipt and go down the warranty road.... I sweat a lot, but am pretty good about wiping down/washing this bike, so I'm a little surprised.
