Let’s see your home wax bench

Thats ^^ what I do more or less, just a couple of dimensional lumber off cuts that are wide enough to do 2 skis at once, tall enough so the bindings don't hit the bench on any ski i own, FR+ needs a lot of clearance

A 2" deep 1/2" slot in one side of the blocks will hold your skis on edge for filing, the ski getting thicker jams into the slot so you don't need to anchor the skis

just a handfull of DW screws to screw it to the bench as far apart as you need

Inspired by some posts above to anchor the dynafit pins, I just upgraded my set up from two wood blocks with skin remnants screwed onto them to this more advanced set up below. Also, followed the concept described in this link, but didn't really follow the dimensions part: http://https://melissa-bain.medium.c...h-233c68316885

The pads at the tip and tail between the plywood and ski are 1/4 foam glued onto the plywood, then covered with climbing skin remnants that are screwed on with glue side up. I cover the glue side up with parchment paper remnant that comes with BD skins. The climbing skin part of this design has worked well in my prior wax set up for years, only having to replace the skin remnants every 3 years or so.

These were built with plywood remnants, and wood scrap I had laying around. The only part purchased was 1/4" x 5" bolt to allow the pads to pivot. At present, the dynafit pins just clamp into holes drilled into the plywood.

The pins bolting is pretty neat! Might have to borrow that idea for wax bench 2.0.

That's a very interesting concept, I'll probably take a stab at a wood version sometime soon! I've been slacking making a more traditional one as I've never liked how the binding attaches as I wax pins/downhill/xc often. Their cheap one (https://www.eggbarvise.com/products/...luminum-tracks) seems to be inline with other similar vices al least, if you don't snowboard...

A quick n dirty ski tuning jig ^^ on a quick n dirty work bench made from a water bed i found in the crawl space of my suite, which is why its finished

the top surface is wide enough to hold a pair of skis, make it out of 2x whatever you got laying around, cost is scrap cutoffs and DW screws, its really inexpensive

you want the upright of the rest to be high enough off the bench to accomadate/ clear whatever bindings you deal with, IME the FR+ needs the most clearance and i still have some in rotation

the 1/2" slot will hold a ski or board on edge, you don't need to secure the ski cuz it can't really go anywhere in a 1/2 " slot before the ski gets thick and jams in the slot

you make 2 of these and screw them to the bench with DW screws where ever works good using a screw gun and DW screws, this jig will accommodate kids skis/ DH skis/ even a snowboard so anything and if it doesnt fit just zap out the screws and move one of the rests

I had some skin scraps on the rests but i removed them cuz I really didnt see much % in protecting a surface that was going to get the shit beat out of it

I made one of these out of scraps. I use a piece of carpet gripper on top to keep the skis from sliding around while waxing and just use quick clamps to secure to my table.

This is how I roll, with some scrap 1/2" particle board sandwiched between some 2x4. Add some rubber tool drawer liner and it's cheep and easy like your mom.

Quick and dirty. 2x6 2x4 2x2 1x2 1.25" dowel and some bike tube. Could use different stuff but that's what I had on hand, I'll use it till it breaks and then build a nice one.
