I did. Since he doesn't have my size, we tried to talk baseball, but, he's a Sox fan, so, it was awkward.
Seriously, the whole point of this thread is all about buying a boot in today's online shopping world vs brick and mortar retail. I sympathize with shop owners who have to order a bunch of boots having little idea what they'll be stuck with in April, but, not my problem. So, next step is to wait a week or two until FT is selling direct off their website, and take it from there. At least that's an option these days.

It may not work for people with feet that are difficult to fit, but for me, Technica boots always work in a 270-275. Maybe a little toe box punch out is required, so for me I order on-line and I am good to go. YRMV.

The only reason they are in one piece is they haven't been exposed to the sun yet, it's a 25$ swap boot at best.

I suspect a lot of people are in wrong boots because that's what the shop had. I wonder if a boot fitting shop could make money--they measure you and talk to you, recommend one or more boots to try, you order online, come back for adjustments. You pay for the recommendation and the fitting, maybe a footbed, liner down the line. Shop doesn't have to keep inventory, if boot can't be fitted not stuck with taking back a used pair of boots or doing a lot of free work to make them fit. Skier more likely to wind up in the right boots.

I suspect people buy a shiny boot on line, cuz its shiny and red, they spend a bunch of time & money trying to get it to fit, at some point they give up, buy another shiny new boot the next year and repeat the process

might cheaper to go to a shop where they will guarranty the fit

its probably better for the shop to just say they got nothing to fit you and I have had a shop tell me they don't have a boot to fit me

You know how to do a shell fit. You know that the FT works for you. Find the best deal on the three boots you mentioned and just order them form e-tailers that do returns...why is this thread 3 pages now?

    >>Ahem<<

Raichle's my man, circa 2001 or so.

And yes, I'm trying something plus moderne.

Spring comes around and the Maestrale's I'd had didn't fit, were painful after an hour and were just too flimsy. So I gambled on the Roxas with a 3 week return policy. Skied them a few times in bounds all day unmodded with comfort. 3 fairly big days this spring and still.

But fear not, I'm still wearing wool pants.

Excellent question. I always make a pizza when I want to go slower, but maybe if I could replace my blue Langes with a slower color I could ski French fries to the road and not look like such a gaper.

    Haha. Hilarious.

I see an awesome weather window for a trip North. Drove up to Saratoga and did 45 miles yesterday and 25 this morning in awesome 70 degree early fall conditions in farm country. Drive up to Killington, and colors start popping around West Rutland. If you are of any kind of mind to do a fall trip in high Vermont, this is it, should be good for a few weeks. Beautiful. So, drive up to Kmart base to witness the earth moving around the new traffic pattern at the base (who knows), drive down to the Basin shop, and on the floor in the boot area is TODAY'S shipment from Full Tilt. Haha. Cool pizza box design thing. I point at the 30-30.5 Ascendant box and say, I'll get my socks. They fit really well. First try. Hahaha. Sold. Blog over.

Vermont is pretty when the colors happen and it's sunny.
