Those pics don't line up quite right I believe. Note the road with the slight dogleg right that goes up from the red pin in the "after" pic. Then slide the before pic over right next to it. You can see that road in both images at once, which shouldn't be possible. My $.02 fwiw

It is through a ICEYE, Finnish satellite company using SAR (synthetic aperture radar).
Their Twitter page has the correct image.

Doesn't much matter which angle or perspective we look from. It's all totally fucked everywhere. Whoever survived is in dire need of help now. Food, potable water, infrastructure repairs everywhere.
Go that way really REALLY fast. If something gets in your way, TURN!

An inspirational story of those on Tybee waiting out the storm.
https://www.ajc.com/news/breaking-ne...8pLwUkM0gVovK/
"John Potter, a longtime Tybee resident known for drinking 77 16-ounce beers in one sitting at a bar here 20 years ago, said he would stick around to help Thomas. The former curator of the Tybee Island Museum, Potter lives here out of a 1983 Ford Eldorado motor home with an 8-track cartridge player. He has a generator and extra fuel he could use to help Thomas."

I'm guessing the goal was to get the app out quickly, so they just did a rough georeference the first time around. Also, probably difficult to find distinct landmarks to reference against.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

Ice probably knows about this. There was a storm in the mid to late 20th century that hit Massachusetts, and an entire little town got blown into the bay, just obliterated , and they never built it back up (they were smart back then, or just had zero access to taxpayer funded insurance). You can still see the remnants from the air if the water is clear.

Sea Island, Tybee, and the rest of the Gold Coast? Yeah, Davis Love and company have great dental plans.
I can’t speak for the poor rural areas inland though but it’s probably comparable to poor rural places in Vermont, upstate New York or really anywhere else general dietary needs are fulfilled by the King or the Clown.I still call it The Jake.

Meanwhile back on first world problems.. Wedding at Nag's Head Sunday is postponed til further notice. Our reservations are non refundable of course.. Saturday and Sunday night. We will head out Mid day Saturday and see what the aftermath of the NC Outer Banks looks like. If the road's open, the hotel will be open, and what's left of the beach shouldn't be too crowded Sunday, If the road's not open, or the hotel doesn't have power, we should be able to get a credit to book something else in the future which will be fine..
We have Mountain Dew Mouth here in KaKalaKi too..Go that way really REALLY fast. If something gets in your way, TURN!
