These are nice, once you get hooked on a vest you're never go back to a pack unless you need the extra capacity.

You’re a big dude. Go L/XL, I did. I went off their size chart.

Missed out on the L/X, ordered a M/L...maybe it will fit the kid, if not me

For those not wanting the airbag compatibility, Dakine has the heli vest at 50% off now $70 + ship (free ship over $100)

Dakine says those measurements are over your clothes, so I measured and went by the chart too.

Even if you don't need the RAS compatibility, the Poacher is nicer than the Heli.

The NF vest is a bit more minimalist, which is nice if you're not looking to carry a lot of stuff. The rear compartment is pretty big (and long) on the Poacher.

So where are folks finding the deals on the RAS assuming they don't have one already?

I'm talking about the actual RAS system, not the vest. Anywhere you can buy one for a reasonable price as just the RAS 3 unit?

    Northface Powder Guide Vest

Really impressed with the Dakine vest! Super comfy even with airbag, tank, shovel, probe! Great pockets.

What's the ski carry set-up like on the DaKine?
I have NF Powdervest and like it, thinking about trying the Poacher but don't see any pics with skis on the back.

Cross carry. Have yet to set it up so can’t comment on how well it works. Looks like it should work the same as others.

Update after getting out a few days with the Dakine vest. Holy shit this is likely the best soft good purchase I have made to date.

Favorite feature is the skin pockets - low enough down to not make you feel like a beluga whale skiing down.
