You could also create a school class system where the parents who can afford more get the safe play zone for their kids.

Funny because the school is run by Indian immigrants. They must be imposing the caste system to the toddlers.

I think that's what the fence is for, to keep the poor kids in there. And all the spotlights make sense now.

I bet the school had the poor parents pay for that fence too.

The metal roof and lack of snow brakes saved it.
Joist spacing seems fairly tight relative to the 4x4 posts and that tire on the ground, but photos can be deceiving. I had the same thought regarding snow load and the metal roof.

As far as the sagging beam goes that is how most of them are when you buy them. OP said it has only been up for a couple of years so it is very unlikely that they found a straight beam to build with. I recently had to replace a big huge beam at my place and it looked like it had sagged a little from settling for 50 years or so. We were able to match the sag almost exactly to a new beam at the lumber yard. Some of the beams for sale had more sag that the pic in the OP.

Crown, my man. Look it up.

That shit is sagtastic and without any sort of collar ties, trusses, or ceiling joists other than on the gable, I cannot believe the sides haven't spread. There is almost zero chance that is a structural ridge.

Well that was quick. Building inspector called me already and he’s going out in the morning to rope it off with caution tape. Said it was built on a weekend with no permit and will need fixed immediately.

    Thanks for the input everyone.

make sure the chain link fence has all the raw ends silconed for safety and there should be at least 10 inches of wood chips under the play equipment
I'd actually skip the whole local inspector thing and have the state come out for a look see
they are the serious business when it comes to inspecting play equipment
usually a consultant is hired to over see construciton and installation of playground equipment
so guess what your day care fees just went up

Look for a new school now? I'm sure this isn't all that they do incompetently.

Well, we’ve also learned not to hire ol’ fast Fred for building anything with structural integrity.

Actually the school is amazing and my daughter loves it there, they would never do anything to put kids in harms way. I bet the owner just went with the lowest bid and the guy did the bare minimum and took advantage of her.

Yea, those aren’t lights. Joist brackets. It’s not a maximum security children’s prison.

yo dog not one wants to pay the true costs of things in this country so you end up with a t shirt that lasts a couple months
or a picnic shelter like the one your kids hang out under on a stormy day
I fill a nich and people don't mind bong water on their carpet

engineers are over priced and I can figure shit out just as good as them

and what's with roofs over play equipment are kids that big of pussies these days that they can't be exposed to the elements?
what happened to a concrete lip they trip over and smash all their baby teeth in

Yeah, inability to identify a poorly built rain shelter doesn't mean they are bad at caring for children.
