to be fair I don't give him any thought except the couple times I've seen his dumbass antics pop up here.
but it's not unusual for people to figure out ways to live well above their means, especially douches that need that validation
so if it turns out he has family money and was lying, that it doesn't really change my opinion of him or surprise me

Ironic. You’re so convinced he’s the rich brat character he created for viral videos that you think the actual biography of his childhood and industry background can’t possibly be true.

In similar news, Kamala the Ugandan Giant was not actually from Uganda, he was just some guy named James Harris from Mississippi who made a living shocking people with an act.

You don't believe the narrative that Kamala put out but you believe the "actual" biography released by David Lesh. Interesting.

I know plenty of people that have had lots of help from their families that are still good people. I know plenty of people that are self made, but are huge douches.

I don't really give a shit what lesh's background is. He's clearly a high order douche.

If I were him I'd get out of the clothing business and buy a generic drug company and raise all the prices 1000%.

Isn’t it an American axiom that here’s no such thing as bad publicity?

This smells so much like an insurance scam slash publicity stunt.

The odds of surviving a crash into the ocean are slim, I think you are giving Lesh a lot of credit for pulling off a scam like that.

Oh yeah. You’d have to have it to finance the purchase.

Not aware of any federal or state requirement.

Liability insurance is pretty much mandatory wherever you tiedown. FBO requirement in case you nick someone else's aircraft or take out a landing or taxi light. They are not cheap.

If you don't own the aircraft outright, lending agency is going to require hull coverage.

This. Even the biggest of ego maniacs would not risk dying in a plane crash for publicity. They're both extremely luck to have survived.

Well, he was smart enough (or his accountant directed him to do so) to form an LLC (Lesh Air LLC) that owns the airplane: https://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinq...umbertxt=N134P

Fuel management on plans like those Bonanzas is well known to be problematic for goobers (pilots must manually switch between left and right fuel tanks to keep fuel burn balanced). This plane was turbocharged and he recently installed auxiliary tip tanks. Add more complexity to an already complex aircraft.

I'm guessing his fuel switch looked something like this?

It is very common for people to buy too much plane for their experience level (or attitude towards flying). Plenty of accidents are because dentists get in way above their heads in general aviation, much like the dentists here who buy too much ski and too many red ones.

The Bonanza's nickname has always been "doctor killer".

    Just the hull?

You’d think they’d want to cover the wings and the, um...fucking other plane parts...or whatever.

Aren't we experiencing a world wide epidemic of selfie deaths these days? This sure looks like an advanced case of such a stunt, and they were really lucky.
