    08/09 Non-rockered Gotamas - worth a flier? Or no

Looking for some advice - have a line on 08/09 190 Gotamas (last year before rocker was added, neon "Tokyo nights" graphic) for cheeep money. Bases/Edges in nice shape, tops with chips/scratches typical of a 10yr old ski. Mounted with Px14s

Current Quiver: (6', 185lbs, mostly East Coast but occasional Rockies/Wasatch/Alps trips)
180 Rossi Sin 7 (pow/soft snow, pow bumps, trees)
    180 Blizzard Bushwacker (hardpack/ice)
187 Blizzard Titan Argos IQ (touring set-up)

Thinking they could fill a need for a crud/mank ski (similar to the Argos? but with a DH binding) Any advice/opinions on this ski specifically? Or how it fits/doesnt fit into my quiver? 190 too long? Too old and probably clapped out? Rockered Gots are better? Why would you pay ANY amount of money for 10+ year old boards??

    Thanks guys

If they are cheap buy them and have fun. My brother still uses his as his daily driver. I’ve tried to talk him into something new but he says he likes them too much to change.

I have a pair of Tokyo nights in the wrapper if you want.

Tried to sell them before but they had sentimental value to my dad, I think he's accepted he won't ski them at this point

I spent most of last season on a pair of matt black Gotamas. I picked them up for sentimental value.

    Still a great ski.

The matte black buddah was a really angular square rooster tail. Fun ski, but the Tokyo nights was much more modern tail, and a definite improvement. Grab them if they're cheap, awesome corn ski.

I don't know. I think they only have sentimental value so very little. But if Tap wants them they are his. Shopping from Washington is probably $45?
I'll double check and let you know

I would buy them. Pretty much the epitome of pre-rocker ski design IMO.

I boiled my thermometer, and sure enough, this spot, which purported to be two thousand feet higher than the locality of the hotel, turned out to be nine thousand feet LOWER. Thus the fact was clearly demonstrated that, ABOVE A CERTAIN POINT, THE HIGHER A POINT SEEMS TO BE, THE LOWER IT ACTUALLY IS. Our ascent itself was a great achievement, but this contribution to science was an inconceivably greater matter.

I put about 300 days on my 183 Tokyo Nights, very durable old-style Volkls. First real, modern, big boy ski I owned and what truly taught me to be able to ski ok. Eventually I got an edge compression and decided to swap the binders to another ski. I still have them and keep thinking about mounting them up 5 years later. Solid, predictable and versatile; damp but not super stiff.

I think you'll be fine with 190s, they run a bit short if I remember, and they're not super demanding.

Now those 187 Titan Argos (with the Barons I assume)? That's a throwback touring ski!

I inherited some of those Tokyo Nights in 190. They are not skied out but the bases have seen better days. Had a blast on them last season before the snow really started hammering.

Just curious - I have a set of minty gold 190 Buddhas that I absolutely love and still ski... I did not think there were any changes from my beloved Golds to the Tokyo version...

What changes did they make between these two skis...?

Actually, they have Dukes. They're the "IQ" system where the binders slide into a channel in the ski, only one screw holds the whole thing in place. I got em for free last year from a buddy trying to get me into touring

I still ski OG Gotamas when I’m with my kids and am always surprised at their longevity.

Just buy it. You’ll find a place for it. Low tide? It kinda has float due to its width and flex for a sweet rock ski. I ski mine the first snow of every year.

    Not trying to poach....

had some 190 black square tail gotamas, aka black skis of death, that I loved. I broke one last year (swiss cheese ski, I'm fat, huck to flat) and would like some 190 Gotamas....

If anyone is selling a pair that isnt spoken for LMK
