Is Greenland a Good Buy Right Now?

Seward's Folly was bought for $7.2 MM and that turned out to be a pretty good deal. I'm not sure if we paid anything for Hawaii.

Greenland could be a good deal if things keep warming up.

I always say, they’re not making any new real estate.

What’d the Dutch get Manhattan for, a bag of rocks and some small pox blankets? If we can pull of the modern day equivalent, I say let’s do it.

Republican politics would make an excellent stand-in for smallpox blankets, you may be on to something.

We didn't pay anything for Hawaii because we stole it.

If anything we should be looking at Canada. They're right next door, almost speak the same language, and won't have to imitate our culture anymore once they're part of the USA.

Offering to buy Greenland is proof Trump believes in global warming, even as he calls it a hoax.

Aren't there warnings about toxic gasses and long dormant viruses coming back to life out of the permafrost as it thaws? Not sure I'd want a front row seat for that..

I vote we acquire Mexico, at least as a US territory like Puerto Rico. The vast majority of the illegal immigration problems with undocumented would be instantly solved. It opens up way more cheap labor sources. And, defending their southern border would be way easier than defending our current southern border.

Hmmm. Perhaps we just annex it and save some $? What does the Danish army have, 10 planes and 2 tanks?

Canada has a French problem, but I guess we could send them to New Orleans.

This will just be another tidbit in this year's Stephen Colbert's "It's The End World As We Know It" .....and I DON'T Feel Fine.

Hey, at least it would mark the end of another ecosystem lost to fossil fuels that is not northern AK.

Oh this is actually a thing?

I was purely speculating. In that case, yeah, let’s ready the smallpox blankets and scrape together $37B.

Actually Nevada is expanding a few inches per year. So buy some desert and wait a few million years. Except we already own most of it.

We can borrow the $37B from the Chinese.

What are you gonna do with the extra land in NV besides open a casino or whorehouse? Greenland, I have to assume was green at one point, and they have water.

Will Greenland TRs go in the ECRC or will we need a new EECRC?

Correction - French Canadian problem. Like some canuck told me, even the French don't like the French Canadians.

This is where the French Canadians come in. Offer them a new start and if they make it, we know it's safe for Americans. There's precedent, just google "Filles du Roi."

The US is heavily leveraged right now - may be a purchase target.

Canada is currently in negotiations with Putin. He seems willing to sell and China is on board with the financing as there is no new money - just have to assume the note.

    Prob not worth it.

Nah - if you want the labor camps for your political opponents to be effective, you really need a frozen wasteland

Though I can also see him moving a bunch of the border detainees there to counteract the claims of overcrowding and lack of AC at the facilities.

Let’s just wait and see what the real estate inspection report says. We’d be foolish not to have a contingency clause in the offer.
