Got up to Banff last weekend with the lady and 18 other people. Had been hoping for a better snow cycle, but was pleased with the chalky conditions overall. It'd been 10 years since I've been in the Bow valley, so the influx of money and development was quickly noticed. Nobody else had been there before, so it was fun to jog the memory when scootin' around SV and LL.
Not much ski stoke, but here are a couple of shots:
While I'm still craving the chance to ski LL on a good day, I'm sure it'll be some time before I'm back to ski again. It's a long 8 hour drive up there, and that amount of time can get you to a ton of other ski hills.
The touring and ski mountaineering possibilities though were mouth-watering at times. Wish I lived close-enough to take advantage of it.
Cheers.

Just saw this and thought it might be of interest to someone out in that area. 2 free passes and a cool event to watch. Sure, a little different than the FWT, but I’m sure it would be a great day out...
Golden and area friends!
Matt and I are running the Steep Dreams Ski Mountaineering festival this weekend up at Kicking Horse. I had my volunteer plans all worked out but then had SIX people drop out as volunteers TODAY! So I'm freaking out a bit! We can't run races without amazing volunteers
So I'm looking for you! We need course marshals for both Saturday and Sunday. Expect a fun day out on the mountain.
You get a lunch for the day you volunteer, a lift ticket for the day of AND an extra lift ticket for another day. It's an amazing deal. And we are great group to work with!
If you are interested in volunteering, please DM me or contact us at steepdreamsskimo@gmail.com.

I was up each of the last 3 weekends with 5cm one Sat and 7 last weekend. That was it. Enough to soften but no real pow. Decent riding on Whitetail in Taynton, and Todd’s Playground was softened up a bit.
And just my luck, looks like 15 expected for weekend. Gotta stay in Cowtown. Perfect timing.Using Tapatalk

Incredible ski conditions in the Bow Valley over the past few days.
A few short clips from SSV on Saturday. Hopefully the rest of Spring looks like this.

Had a great time at Fernie yesterday.
There's a good ice/crust layer on southern aspects, but the north and eastern aspects are pretty good. The trees around Stag Leap, Decline, and Sky Dive were particularly nice.
My only laps on southern aspects were Snake...the steeper rolls sluffed to the crust. and Knot Chutes...deep enough to stay above the surface.
Cold temps and snow in the forecast for this week.

Will be in Canmore next week with fam. Looking to do a morning tour (possibly Tuesday or Wednesday). Miner's Gully or some other low hanging fruit would be ideal. Any beta on conditions / stability on that line?
