Had a good time at Fernie and Castle over the weekend. Darn near perfect conditions. Had a few good beers over at the Northern.

Good to see that castle has good conditions... because they haven't updated their snow report in 10 days so I had no idea.

Friday at Fernie and Sat at Castle were freshies. A little ice drizzle at Fernie and a little warming made Sunday conditions variable -kind of better where snow had been skied a bit.

What a week of skiing in the interior. Met a couple of locals who showed me around KHMR. Love that place, skis like a mini JH, without the crowds and better snow!

    Shhhh.

    Nothing to see here.

These are not the mountains you're looking for.

I agree. Canada - it never snows there, and when it does, it sucks.

And parks is not plowing out some of the parking lots of other areas. Fuckers, guess I'll just put up a couple safety triangles and park on the hiway.

Thats this years snow. Good and bad. Right about now trucks start exploding after weeks of round the clock work. Shortage of equipment and huge snow that may need a loader to bail it = full p lots. Pack a good shovel for a personal alcove. There is good skiing south of vermillion but not far

How is the skiing up in the Rockies in early May typically? Thinking about spending a week up in that neck of the woods around then, but I'm not too familiar with the winter/spring transition in that part of the world.

    ski area or touring?

SSV closes the end of may, LL early May. Both can be winter/powder morning and sunny slush afternoon

touring: The N facing stuff, on 93N from lake louise to jasper is just getting good.

This is the lot I'm referring too, not going to shovel it as it hasn't been done all season by the looks of it. 4' frozen wall of brown.

Hut/Lodge based touring on the western slope of the Rockies. Still mulling it over.

its on the highway, NOT up on a glacier, but good and cheap way to get to fun day trips.

Anyone in the calgary area have a ski shipping box lying around?

I'm trying to be the intermediary on a sale for another mag and I need to ship the skis but don't have a box myself.
