Canadian military bans discriminatory, sexually explicit tattoos

Canadian military issues new ban on discriminatory, sexually explicit tattoos

    https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/canadi...toos-1.4546293

"Tattoos connected to criminal activities such as criminal gangs are now unacceptable as are those that promote or express discrimination as defined by the Canadian Human Rights Act, including hatred, violence, discrimination or harassment.

Military personnel are also forbidden from sporting ink that they know -- "or ought to know" -- is racist, sexist, misogynistic, xenophobic, homophobic, discriminatory against the disabled or sexually explicit."

    Seems quite broad to me.

Afaik Marines had quite strict no-tattoo policy for a long time, only to loosen it up a bit lately. Same or stricter tattoo content rules as Canadians have.

Seems like a standard, common sense policy. Funny the range of posts that pop up when there isn't much snow on the ground, but on the bright side, nice to hear that the rumors of us having a military are true!

So if someone has an offensive tatoo, I wonder if they remove it SAMCRO style?

Ya well. It is probably like one of them Poisson distributions. Wait another 2 or 3 or 4 years and then they will have a bumper crop. Everyone's probably on guard right now - as they should be ... in the military

a local redneck has a confederate flag tatoo, you know Bo Luke n Daisy Duke that whole dukes of hazard thing, so one of my buddies said hey leroy do you have any idea what that symbol really means ?

and leroy is like " but thats not what I meant ! "

my bro inlaw was Canadian navy, he has Tatoos but he said back in the day before every girl you know had the chinese symbol for "beef and broccili #24" tatooed on her ass, no responsible tatoo artist would do ink that shows, so no face /neck/hand

IIRC his other choice to have it flayed off with a Bowie knife.
Seems like having it removed by laser would be less painful

They amazing thing is they need to write a policy for this...common sense tells me you don't what any idiot who would do this in the military, or any job, to begin with.

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...

I can attest the rumor is true. I watched a bunch of them roll through the streets of old town Quebec City in APCs one summer night in what appeared to be a show of force.
