I would trust NYC tap water over most Rocky mountains stream sources. It's won awards. Look it up.

NYC (Catskills) water tastes better than Boulder, no doubt.

Nobody is going to put on their pants and come out and buy you a beer on such short notice.

maybe just a good troll...? NYC has some outstanding breweries: Other Half, Finback, Threes, Grimm, Fiveborough, Big Alice, Interborough, etc. You just have to leave Manhattan to get to them.

If you just want to buy good beer, I am sure somewhere in the UWS will prove adequate...

e: OP, probably 3/4 or more of what Other Half does are NEIPAs and they are very, very good. My favorite anywhere I've had in that style.

MacSorley's still around? Sucky beer, but they had those cool six foot tall urinals in the back.

Penn Station is one of the few places you can still get Ballantine in a 40.

It’s this kind of travel advice that goes unappreciated here all too often.

One more thing. The city is a shithole these days with VT beer tourists leaving their shit all over the place. So please tell your friend when he's done to throw the empty bottle and the paper bag in a recycle container and help make NYC great again.

Meh - I bring all my own food and drink with me to NYC when I go so as to not spend any money while there and then I 'accidentally' let my Hefty bag fall out of the back of my Suburban as I leave town and pretend I don't know it's not laying on the side of the roadway.

I'm just following the golden rule, after all.

Heartland Brewery has a few locations. I always go to the one in the base of the Empire State building. Decent beer and food, I like it.

haven't been back to the city since the bad experience with some high school friends
we drank but I don't remember what
it was mostly too potent brownies, coke, acid, weed, and some beer all I rember is getting asked to leave a bunch of places and holding back my girlfriends hair while she puked on the sidewalk

I hope you at least got to see some of the turn-of-the-century-before-the-last-turn-of-the-century tile work in the subway system. I believe it's where the term "subway tile" comes from.
