Good scenery, stale ducks. We need a cold front.

I had one of those Marlin lever action .30-30s mounted with a 4X scope. Most accurate gun I've ever owned. In a fit of stupidity and poverty I traded it to a guy for an elk rifle. Wish to this day I still had that gun.

Nice pigs wendigo, let us know how they taste. I found it interesting on Kauai when I found out you could shoot a pig a day. Not that they're easy to find, just invasive. There is a pretty cool museum near the top of Waimea Canyon with some big pig mounts and info about the pigs.

I miss shooting those little monsters. Had a local butcher near me in santa cruz that did custom link sausage and cured and smoked the hams over apple wood. Nothing better..

My Marlin 30-30 always rides under the seat in my truck and is my go-to in the great coyote war. Those things are freakishly accurate with Hornady ammo.

30-30 is the Hawaii firearm of choice apparently.
hunted all private lands, take as many as you can shoot - the land owners were stoked on the assistance, pigs are damn destructive.
brought back ~150 lbs of meat, taste great though the big boars need some tenderizing or slow cooking.

Any online resources or details on a canuck hunting in Hawaii, and bringing meat back to Canada? I bowed out of the trip to Maui again this Jan, but if it is cost effective, this might convince me to accept the annual MIL hospitality in Maui during ski season more readily. Looks like a fantastic harvest, and doubling as pest management for the local ecology piques my interest.

must have a hunter's ed cert to get a waiver in order to procure a hawaii hunting license.
firearms have to be registered at the sheriff office (big island was within 5 days).
no idea on the canukistan angle - did have to demonstrate us citizenship for registering firearms, so??
keeping meat cold was the biggest concern - and not shooting at somebody's house...
you could chat with one of the guides.
buddy was successful on maui hunting axis deer with a crossbow

Like most American hunters of my age, I took my first whitetail with a Marlin .30-30. There are more accurate, more beautiful, more versatile, and more classic rifles out there, but I'll always have a huge soft spot for that particular lever gun.

The LEVERevolution? I'm a big fan of that cartridge.

Have you had any issues with getting the last round out of the magazine with LEVERevolution ammunition in a Marlin 336 30-30? I have never tried this round as it is 2x my typical Corelokt 30-30 ammunition and may experiment.

Yeah man, the first half of the day was the best shooting I've ever done. Unfortunately when it came to the sixth bird for the limit I regressed back to my normal shitty shooting.

Sorry guys, not my most tasteful photo but just snapped a quick one before I had to get her cleaned up before it got dark. Hopefully get one more before season closes.

    Looks good to me.

When it comes to deer hunting, I'd be perfectly happy punching WT doe tags for the rest of my days.

You should move to Wisconsin then, they gave me 6 antlerless tags this year. 3 each for the gun and archery buck tags I bought.

Yeah, we can shoot up to 7 here in Montana - General deer tag if you want to burn it on a doe, and depending on zones, a B tag, and 5 doe tags.

Stubble field WT does are just about the best tasting game there is.

Finished off the season today, my last day out, ducks weren’t really cooperating, hundreds flying just out of range. The three of us scraped out 8. That puts me over 40 birds on the season, a deer and an elk, we’ve got a lot of great recipes planned.

Weird. No, I've never had any problems at all like that with the 336. It cycles all the LEVERevolution, first to last, without a hitch.

I'm just spitballing here, but I'm guessing that if your Marlin hangs on the last round in the mag (or even if it cycles blunt, flat, and hollowpoint nose cartridges fine but catches on the last Hornady round, since they're a little longer), then maybe the problem is with your magazine spring?

Got out for maybe the last day of the season. Scratched together 13 between the three of us. Lots of pairs and singles flying around, not a lot of big flocks. Also, this spot is normally swarming with geese around 10-11am and we didn't have a single one come in range. Shot a Redhead Drake and a Pintail Drake, both firsts for me in this area of CO.
Remembered how much I hate plucking ducks, told my buddy I would rather butcher a deer than pluck 13 ducks again
