Bike trip begins with thievery...
Had our my bikes removed from the roof rack (locked) within 6 hrs of being in Whitehorse. RCMP report filed, insurance claim filed. Time to look for rentals. Good times.

Brutal, times have sure changed up there. Early 2000's we used to leave the door to our house wide open so the cat could come and go.... never got robbed and we lived in a shitty part of town.
Sorry to hear that. Thieves suck.

So I guess this is a thing now. Can't leave your locked bikes without supervision. I was debating bringing one of my bikes on a fly fishing trip, prolly won't.
Dang. Sorry.Well maybe I'm the faggot America

Really Sucks. I am always sketched out to leave my locked bike on the roof for any length of time. Won't even leave it on the roof overnight and I live on a dead end private road of nice houses. [which makes it a target of skells]

"If the road You followed brought you to this,of what use was the road"?

Sorry to hear this. If you haven't already circulate a description to the Whitehorse biking facebook groups. I'll help circulate it to Northern BC biking groups then. These bikes cannot travel that far

Just rode 3.5 hrs of single track on a giant advanced trance 29er. All is not lost! They can steal my bike, but they can’t take our fun!

omg that sux. i am constantly anxious when my bike is exposed on the rack. i prefer removing wheel and putting in bed of truck, under the cover. when you pay 5k+ for a bike, there are people who will steal it. sad

With the price of bikes these days, a nice bike on a car is just too tempting for slacker douchebags. Makes me sick.
Nice to see you're still getting' some riding stoke though!

Ouch, that sucks!
Just back from our Vancouver Is vacation and the bikes on the roof of the crewcab never garnered a second glance. Guess it pays to have a 08 spec enduro and even older norco hardtail traveling through Naniamo and area. That, and getting up there to get em down was almost impossible for me with 2 wounded wings and sprained wrist (injuries happened the night before we left, knew I wasn’t going to be able to ride for the trip, but couldn’t get them down injured). Recovered enough now to pull them down today before heading off the Salmon Arm for Roots & Blues.

Issued a claim settlement from homeowners ins.
Have rented the following bikes:
Giant trance advance 29 - great all day ride
Ibis ripely - faaast - setup for wife
Norco sight c3 - 29 - good all around, could be happy on this. Found the limits on bigger hits.
Pivot trail 429 - setup for wife
Kona process 153 - 27.5 al - does fine, wouldn’t be my first choice. Was riding Carcross, so fast with some decent drops.
Kona process 27.5 carbon - set up for wife. We both thought the 29 version was mo’betta
Kona process 29 carbon - great ride, rode all day in Bellingham
Transition patrol carbon 27.5 - bit of a slog on the up, best of the lot pinned, going down, also in Bellingham
Looking for new bikes now, certainly it as much fun as riding bikes.
Thinking maybe a trail pistol

Go rent an ebike next. Seriously, as long as you're trying stuff out.
BTW, what kind of lock were you guys using? I'm always wondering which locks aren't enough and guessing you'd use something different in the future. However many are in a shit ton.
