Candy came from out on the island.

his mothers house was always someplace you'd point out to friends when I was younger.

According to my Google sources above, John was ordered to leave the US in 1973 due to the 1968 drug conviction. But that was well after the song was recorded in 1969. Of course that order was eventually overturned and John was shot in NYC. Maybe he should have left.

    Pretty sure it’s about immigration.

Many people think it’s about them getting back to the bands old self but that was the idea behind the concept album with the same title.

John once said (in I think a playboy interview just before we was killed) that it was about Yoko. That Paul looked directly at her every time he sang the get back line.

Edit- shit ton of cool info about it.

Love the bit about Preston’s solo. I’ve always loved it.

While this may be true, Phoenix is closer to Flagstaff, which is cooler than Tucson. By association, does this then make Phoenix cooler than Tucson?

I once spent a week in Pinetop. I really liked it and would go back....for good. And the entire town smelled like pine trees.
It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.

I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

The Beatles eventually realised that their intentions could be misconstrued, and the story of Jo Jo and Loretta Martin evolved.

Many people have since claimed to be the Jo Jo and they're not, let me put that straight! I had no particular person in mind, again it was a fictional character, half man, half woman, all very ambiguous. I often left things ambiguous, I like doing that in my songs.

Yes.... yes... yes..... you people are just so darn serious sometimes. I was playing around responding to someone else's playful post. I should have known the subject of who was the walrus was far to serious to desecrate.
