The problems with asking on subject specific forums that you don't normally frequent are: in total the answers are less entertaining, from people you don't know, who could be that board's version of bushwacka or digideath and you'd never know it.

That’s within my abilities. I am supposedly a wildlife biologist and deal with forest raptors. Downy and hairy woodpeckers are food for the birds that occupy a large proportion of my days in the woods.

Nothing wrong with id'ing raptors but he always said the mark of a true birder was the ability to identify female warblers.

He was also not afraid to dust it up in here when some dude from Bellingham claimed to see a gyrfalcon.

that bleeds over into NJ) so he's ok by me. I have to stick with the peeps in my adopted state.

I have a hawk question. I had a red-tailed hawk keep flashing his underside to me while I was paragliding, and then it flew away. Was it flashing its talons at me trying to get me to fuck off out of his territory (October in CO mountains)? It only happened once, and I share thermals with hawks not infrequently and they mostly seem fine with it. Sometimes they scream and it's the coolest. While I have you here, same question, but for the scream, is it stoked or pissed?

These guys are aggressive as fuck! We had a nest near a popular bike trail a couple seasons ago. That thing attacked everyone that attempted to trespass for a like 2 months straight. Side note: don't tell the DNRC about stuff like this as they will shut the trail down... just think of it as a technical feature.
